After years of public tension and trading shots, Kevin Hart and Katt Williams may have finally turned the page on their feud — and it all happened during one of the most unexpected moments of Netflix’s roast of Hart.
Williams, 54, made a surprise appearance during the “Roast of Kevin Hart” over the weekend, catching both fans and Hart himself off guard.
The Two Seem to Now Be in Friendly Terms
While the longtime rivals didn’t hold back on jokes, the night ultimately ended with what appeared to be a genuine moment of reconciliation.
“You coming out here, quite the [expletive] surprise,” Hart, 46, told Williams onstage. “But, Katt, I can sit and I can watch you, I can laugh, because I’m a [expletive] fan first, OK? I’m a fan first.”
The emotional moment came after years of friction between the comedians, who have repeatedly criticized one another publicly.
Hart acknowledged the history between them and suggested it was finally time to move on.
He pointed out that they “have an opportunity in real time [on] live television to put [their] [expletive] beef behind” them.
The Ride Along star then extended what he called “an olive branch of peace.”
“I am offering you an olive branch of peace. I want to be a brother, I want to be a friend. Katt, I want to move on. Can we move on, man?”
Williams accepted the gesture, shaking Hart’s hand before the two embraced in front of the audience.
But because it was still a roast, the peace offering didn’t come without plenty of comedy.
The Two a Roasted Each Other
Earlier in the night, Williams leaned into their feud with sharp jokes aimed at Hart.
“I’m surprised they invited me,” Williams said after being introduced by Regina Hall. “That’s how little star power you have. They had to start inviting your enemies. I said, ‘I hate him.’ They said, ‘Come anyway.”
He also joked, “Very humble of me to be at your GOAT roast tonight. Kevin, I’ve won an Emmy Award, but this is going to be my best acting tonight as I pretend like you are a GOAT for the people at home.”
Even after the heartfelt handshake, Hart couldn’t resist slipping back into roast mode.
“Everybody has said tonight that I can’t act. … What I want you to do is go back and look at that moment where I shook Katt’s hand and I looked him in the eye, and I said, ‘I just want us to be friends.’ Some of the best [expletive] king acting that I’ve ever did in my career,” he joked.
“I did not mean one word of what I said. [expletive] Katt Williams! [expletive] Katt Williams!”
The crowd erupted, with the playful jab making it clear the two comedians were comfortable enough to laugh at their complicated history.
The feud between Hart and Williams has simmered for years, but it intensified again in 2024 after Williams accused Hart of being an industry plant and allegedly taking movie roles from him.
Fans React
Fans were thrilled to see the apparent truce play out live.
“Best moment so far,” one person wrote.
“Chills, literally,” another added.
Others praised Hart for extending the olive branch, with one fan writing, “This makes me so happy!! And for Kevin to be the one to extend the olive branch first when he was the one dragged repeatedly by Katt, really shows how big his heart really is.”
