Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie, remains missing as the search continues to ramp up. Nancy has officially been missing for 12 days, and while new evidence has been coming out in recent days, her location is still unknown.
However, a new report shines a light on how the FBI and the local Sheriff are working together.
According to Fox News reporter Michael Ruiz, the Arizona Sheriff has blocked the FBI “from key evidence in Guthrie Case, US Law Enforcement Officials Say.” He further reported that, “Sheriff Nanos sent a glove recovered from INSIDE the home to a private lab in Florida rather than the FBI’s lab in Virginia, according to the source.”
“The feds will likely need to re-test themselves, wasting time,” Ruiz stated, adding that the source described the situation as “insane.”

In another post by Ruiz, the Fox News reporter revealed that, “according to a federal law enforcement source, the sheriff didn’t request help from the FBI on Nancy Guthrie’s abduction until after the feds reached out first.”
“They never even reached out,” the source said.
U.S. Official Provides More Information On The Situation
When speaking with Reuters, a U.S. law enforcement official with knowledge of the case confirmed that an “Arizona sheriff is blocking FBI access to key evidence in the investigation,” which is “impairing its ability to assist in the probe.”
According to the official, the FBI asked Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos for the physical evidence in the case involving Nancy’s disappearance, which included the glove that was discovered. And with that, they wanted it to be processed at the FBI’s national crime laboratory in Quantico, Virginia. But, Nanos “insisted instead on using a private lab in Florida.”
“Outsourcing forensic analysis to a Florida contractor, effectively denying the access of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to crucial evidence in the case, is delaying the FBI ability to assist in the case,” the official detailed. They added that by sending the evidence to the Florida lab, it “risks further slowing a case that grows more urgent by the minute.”
The official also told Reuters that the sheriff should have reached out to the FBI sooner.
“It’s clear the fastest path to answers is leveraging federal resources and technology. Anything less only prolongs the Guthrie family’s grief and the community’s wait for justice,” the official told the outlet.

This situation illustrates the loss of trust in federal agencies that have been very seriously degraded by the replacement of experienced, knowledgeable public servants with political hacks. This administration, in many cases, cannot be relied upon for rendering honest and competent services.
