Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mom of former longtime “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie, has now been missing for over 72 hours. In an alarming update shared yesterday, February 3, a reporter from News Nation shared a video of what appeared to be a trail of blood leading away from Guthrie’s front door. A portion of a 911 call was also released, which detailed Nancy’s serious health issues.
Also yesterday, Savannah’s friend and fellow broadcast journalist Katie Couric took to her Instagram to emotionally react to the ongoing search as things became more desperate.
Couric, who has collaborated several times with Guthrie at NBC, wrote, “I cannot stop thinking and worrying about Nancy Guthrie, Savannah, her siblings and her children. There is just so much sadness and anxiety in the world—so much cruelty, it is almost impossible to fathom. Sending them and all of you out there love and support and praying for the safety and well being of this lovely mom and grandmother and honestly, right now for an entire country that seems lost.”

Has Savannah Guthrie’s Mom Been Found?
As of publishing around 12:20 p.m. on February 4, Nancy Guthrie is still missing. However, in a hopeful update, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos says he believes she is alive. He said, “We have nothing else to go on but the belief that she is here.”
He went on, “She’s present. She’s alive, and we want to save her.”
The February 4 “Today” broadcast highlighted that there have been two reports of ransom notes sent to news organizations, but law enforcement has not substantiated those as legitimate.
