Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Case: ‘New Leads’ as Ransom Deadline Passes

As the ransom deadline in the Nancy Guthrie disappearance case passed, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department released an update.

“New statement from Pima Sheriff says they are following up on new leads and we can expect to see an active law enforcement presence at Guthrie residences,” reporter Brian Entin, who has been on the ground in Tucson, Arizona, throughout the investigation, shared via X on Monday, February 9. “So far – I have not noticed anything at Nancy or Annie’s house today.”

He later followed up with an update from FBI investigators, saying, “The FBI is not aware of any continued communication between the Guthrie family and suspected kidnappers, nor have we identified a suspect or person of interest in this case at this time.”

The Sheriff’s Department shared a tweet of their own, though not much has changed since their previous update.

“Investigators have not identified any suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles connected to Nancy Guthrie,” their tweet read. “Anyone who believes they have information that may assist investigators is asked to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or the PCSD non-emergency line at 520-351-4900, or 88-CRIME.”

Search Continues for Nancy Guthrie

The clock has run out on Nancy Guthrie’s alleged ransom deadline, and the search continues for the 84-year-old. Guthrie has been missing since January 31, when she was dropped off at home by her daughter Annie Guthrie following a family dinner.

Her family has been pleading for her safe return in multiple social media posts, begging for communication with their mother’s alleged captors.

“We received your message, and we understand,” Savannah said in a video shared on Saturday, February 7. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

Guthrie was seemingly referring to the $6 million in bitcoin the kidnappers demanded in their ransom letters.

According to TMZ, however, as of Monday morning, with the deadline quickly approaching, the bitcoin account set up to receive the funds remained empty.

“It’s unclear how long it typically takes for accounts to update, but as of now, the confirmed balance in the publicly viewable account stands at $0,” the outlet reported.

Savannah Guthrie Pleads for Mom’s Return

“Hi everybody. I wanted to come on and just share a few thoughts as we enter into another week of this nightmare,” Guthrie said via Instagram on Monday, February 9. “I just wanted to say first of all, thank you so much for all of the prayers and the love that we have felt, my sister and brother and I. And that our mom has felt, because we believe that somehow, some way, she is feeling these prayers and that God is lifting her even in this moment and in this darkest place.”

She added, “We are at an hour of desperation and we need your help.”
