Disturbing new details have emerged about how the suspect allegedly propped open the back doors to Nancy Guthrie’s home.
Savannah Guthrie previously said in her first interview with Hoda Kotb that Nancy’s back doors were propped open, leading many to believe that this was how the abductor gained entry to the home.
In the latest episode of “Drop Dead Serious,” Ashleigh Banfield revealed how the suspect managed to open the doors.
“I learned that there are two doors on that back door to the left of the patio sofa, the one you can’t see. It enters the kitchen,” Banfield cited a law enforcement source. “That door goes into the kitchen, and there are two doors. One is the screen door, and one is the inside door. And those were the doors, plural, that were left open.”
Nancy Guthrie Update: Suspect Used Flower Pots to Open Doors
Banfield also revealed that the suspect reportedly used Nancy Guthrie’s flower pots to prop open the back doors.
“Another detail that really floored me was that the perpetrator used Nancy’s flower pots to do this,” Banfield added, citing a law enforcement source. “He took her beautiful flower pots that I can only imagine she spent time nurturing and making beautiful for her back patio, and he used them for his evil plot.”
Banfield said Nancy’s abductor used a flower pot to prop open the screen door, though it remains unclear whether the inner door was opened the same way or had been left unlocked.
Back Gate Also Propped Open
A source also told Banfield that aside from Nancy Guthrie’s back doors, the suspect propped open her back gate as well.
“He also took Nancy’s beautiful flower pots, and he propped open the back gate,” Banfield added. “What’s so fascinating about this is why you prop them open? What was the reason that you needed those things to stay open? The back gate and her back kitchen doors, screen door, and heavy door. Why did you need them to stay open?”
Banfield speculated that the suspect may have originally intended to exit via the back doors, but Nancy’s limited mobility may have forced them to use the front door instead. She also suggested that the back doors could have served as a quick escape route if the plan didn’t go as planned.
Meanwhile, former SWAT commander with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Bob Krygier, weighed in on why the suspect chose to take Nancy out the front.
“If I were doing it, I would probably go out the front,” Krygier explained. “The backyard, that’s easy to get through. But once you get beyond that back wall, you’re looking at, you know, just a desert area. A lot of rocks, a lot of brush, a lot of cactus, things that are going to make you fall down if you’re not familiar with it. It’s definitely a much more difficult route to go.”

What i don’t understand, why was she living by herself, I know they still want their independence and they still have it but not alone our ethnic background, we don’t let them live alone at her age and no nursing homes, we take of our love ones until our Heavenly Father call them home, I’m not here to down or judge on anyone but the way how world ,we have to keep our love ones close, my prayers goes out to her and family for blessed return.
I am not understanding WHY!!! she was living alone??? She could have had a caretaker look after her, even through she is independent. There is something wrong with this picture.. I also feel that the son-in-law and Annie have something to do with this case. Savannah is playing very dumb. You don’t leave your elderly parents you never know what could go wrong in the middle of the night. In this case I call it STUPIDITY on their part.
Bingo….why did the investigate mention that about the back door prop open. There your answer right there. because the first article stated that she has all kinds of ppl coming to attend to ground keepers attending to her yard well as maids and bunch others stuff like the guy that clean the pool and landcare ppl coming now my questions is why haven’t any of those people in and out of her house NOT NOTICING THE DOOR PROP OPEN?.🤔🤔 SPECIALLY THE LANDCARE PPL. Or maid inside or pool guy or someone.that was wayyyyyyyy to muchhhhhh traffic in and out of her house for her to he by herself too many different people in one place. Do your math 🤔..its one of her worker’s its a inside job done.why wasn’t nobody’s checking to make sure everything was locked up before the day ends. And another question is if she had alarms it should sounds letting u know a door open not lock.. the button line is she to old person to be living by herself when she has family members should took her with them.. all this could been avoided. 🤷🏾♀️ wayyyyyyyy too many different people on her property at onces. Still dont rule the son n law out just yet..
A lot of people live alone, that are up there in years. I am my mother’s caregiver and I know for a fact that things can happen when you’re there. I would never dream that someone would break in and do something like this!!! It’s so very sad!!! My prayers continue for her safe return!! For her family and friends and for all of the volunteers searching for her!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
