‘Baywatch’ Star Nicole Eggert Bravely Opens Up After Revealing Cancer Diagnosis

Nicole Eggert, the iconic “Baywatch” alum, is bravely sharing what she calls an “all-consuming” struggle as she juggles her breast cancer fight.

The 53-year-old opened up while appearing on the Monday, Sept. 1, podcast of “Pod Meets World” and shared how it was going through chemotherapy.

“Chemo is a beast. And they threw the strongest ones at me. And once they do it you can’t do it again so it’s like, I need for this not only to be effective now, but how do I learn how I got here?” she bravely told the hosts.

Eggert Had Family Support

She added how her family has helped her thorugh every step of the way, especially her daughters.

“My oldest lives in New York so she didn’t have to witness a lot of it like my young one did but they’re supportive, they bring me to a place of taking me outside myself too, because when you’re a mom it gives you purpose and keeps you from feeling sorry for yourself,” Eggert noted.

She added that while she has been focused on her cancer journey, being a mom never stops. “You have stuff to do and you have this role to play. Life is so much bigger than yourself when you’re a mom or a parent.”

She was first diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer in December 2023.

She Described the Waiting Game

Eggert poignantly described the emotional roller-coaster of being in a “gray area” post-treatment—when therapy ends but surgery and imaging are still pending—and how that uncertainty can weigh even more heavily than active treatment, she told PEOPLE in August of 2024.

“I am in sort of a gray area and I finished my treatment, waiting for more imaging and hopefully maybe surgery,” she said at the time.

“And there’s a lot of waiting in this and it’s sort of something I didn’t really realize and nobody really talks about,” Eggert said. “But the gray area is the hardest because you don’t know what’s happening and you’re just, when I’m doing treatment, I felt like I was doing something productive.”

She shared with “Pod Meets Boy” that while she has some more surgeries ahead, she is feeling more excited about what’s next.

“I still have surgeries ahead of me next month that I’m excited about. I really took my time with that because I just didn’t know what was the right route for me,” Eggert said. “ There’s just so many opinions and options and I’m someone that needs to sleep on it so I took a year to listen to everybody, digest it all … It’s a big decision.”
