Celebrity blogger and podcast host Perez Hilton’s family is sharing a hopeful update as he continues to recover after being hospitalized earlier this week.
In a statement released Wednesday, Aug. 5, Hilton’s family thanked supporters for the overwhelming response while revealing encouraging news about his condition.
“Our family wants to once again thank everyone who has reached out with prayers, kind messages, and support for Perez. Your compassionate humanity during this heartbreaking time has meant more than words can express,” the statement began.
The family acknowledged that the situation has been especially difficult because they have had limited information available to them.
“This has been incredibly difficult and emotional for us, made even harder because very little information has been made available to our family. While we continue to wait for further updates, we remain hopeful.”
His Family Said He’s Communicating
They then shared the positive development that has given them renewed optimism.
“We have also been able to confirm that Perez is able to communicate, which has given our family hope.”
The statement continued by asking for patience and prayers as Hilton focuses on his recovery.
“We respectfully ask for your continued prayers, understanding, and grace as Perez continues to recover. We will share additional updates as we receive confirmed information and are able to do so. For now, we’re taking things one step at a time and keeping our focus where it belongs, on Perez and his recovery.”
The family concluded with another message of gratitude.
“Again, thank you, truly, for all your support and compassion. We are so grateful.”
Hilton’s Family Previously Released a Brief Statement
Hilton was hospitalized after authorities responded to an emergency at his South Florida home.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies received “multiple calls” regarding “a man livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media.”
Officials confirmed to USA TODAY on Tuesday, Aug. 4 that Hilton was “safely recovered and transported” to a local hospital, where he received medical attention.
The sheriff’s office also said it was monitoring the situation while “providing the needed support to his family.”
The latest update follows an earlier statement released shortly after Hilton was hospitalized. At that time, his family thanked fans for their concern while confirming he was receiving treatment.
“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers,” the family said in their initial statement.
They added, “We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being. We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time.”
Since news of the hospitalization broke, fans and fellow public figures have flooded social media with messages of encouragement, hoping for Hilton’s recovery.
While few additional details have been released about his condition, the family’s latest announcement that he is able to communicate marks the first significant update since his hospitalization.
For now, loved ones say they remain focused on supporting his recovery while thanking the public for their continued kindness, prayers and understanding during what they describe as an incredibly emotional time.
