‘Today’ Host Savannah Guthrie’s Mom’s Friend Makes Bold Statement: ‘Doesn’t Have Any Enemies’

The disappearance of “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie, has been met with an outpouring of love and support. Law enforcement is still working to locate Nancy, who was reported missing on Sunday, February 1. There is also an element of shock and disbelief in the case because reports suggest that Nancy had been taken from her home and that she could be in danger. She is 84.

Nancy Guthrie’s Friend Shares Her Thoughts

Amid Nancy’s disappearance, police and loved ones are searching for answers, including what the potential motive could be and establishing whether there was anyone who may want to harm her. Nancy’s friend and book club friend buddy, Mary Ann Blevins, opened up about her in an interview with Us Weekly, published on February 3. “She doesn’t have any enemies at all. And this, it’s just a freaky thing,” Blevins said.

There have been suggestions that Savannah’s popularity and visibility could have played a role in Nancy’s disappearance, but Blevins is unsure whether that is a factor. “Yeah. You know, her daughter is quite well known, and I don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not,” she said. “She and her mother are very, very close.”

Blevins also shared that she last saw Nancy at their book club meeting around a month ago. “She always seems OK,” Blevins said of Nancy. “She’s just a beautiful person.”

Nancy was reported missing on Sunday, February 1. When she missed church, a family member was contacted, NBC News reports. Nancy is a mom to three children, Savannah, Camron Guthrie, and Annie Guthrie.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has given multiple interviews about this high-profile case, including revealing in a press conference on February 3 that the police were “not ruling out” foul play. He added, “She has no cognitive issues at all. She’s very alert [and] of sound mind.” It is also believed that she did not leave her home “on her own.”

Nanos spoke about the case in an interview with Us Weekly. “Something doesn’t fit,” he said. “We’re gonna pull all the stops and go at all angles. We really do hope it’s a search-and-rescue mission and we find her, and she’s safe and sound. But it would be unjust if we didn’t look at what’s in front of us and go, ‘We need to act.’”

He also shared his belief that the scene at her home suggested she was “in danger.”
