Savannah Guthrie Issues Urgent Plea After Photos of Mom’s Alleged Abductor Are Released

Savannah Guthrie is once again asking for the public’s help as the search for her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, enters its second week. The “Today” co-anchor shared newly released FBI surveillance footage on Instagram, urging anyone who recognizes the individual shown outside her mother’s home to come forward.

The video captures a person wearing a dark jacket and light-colored pants, carrying a backpack, as they approach the residence and appear to tamper with the doorbell camera. Savannah accompanied the post with a direct plea.

“Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home,” Guthrie wrote.

She later reshared still images of the same individual, adding, “We believe she is still alive. Bring her home.”

FBI Releases Images and Videos of Potential Subject

Kash Patel shared several black-and-white images and short video clips of a potential subject in the Nancy Guthrie investigation on X. The footage shows a person wearing gloves, a mask, khakis, sneakers, and a backpack outside the front door of Guthrie’s Tucson home on the morning she disappeared.

One video shows the individual walking toward the door, head lowered. The person’s eyes are visible through the mask’s openings. No vehicle appears in the footage, though officials noted it could have been parked elsewhere on the street.

Patel later released additional images and videos recovered from the same camera system. “Working with our partners, as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance,” Patel said.

He added that investigators recovered the footage from residual data stored in backend systems after some recording devices were removed. “The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems,” Patel said.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department issued the same statement shared by the FBI regarding the newly released surveillance images.

Officials said there is no additional information to release at this time and that a press briefing is not planned.

A spokesperson confirmed that an active law enforcement presence is expected to continue at the Guthrie family homes as investigators follow up on new leads.

Authorities also said they are “not aware of any continued communication between the Guthrie family and suspected kidnappers, nor have we identified a suspect or person of interest in this case at this time.”

As the search for Nancy Guthrie reaches its 10th day, the deadline cited in an alleged ransom demand has passed.

Law enforcement has not confirmed the authenticity of the note, which was sent to news outlets last week and called for $6 million in bitcoin.

Savannah highlighted the urgency of the situation in another Instagram video, saying, “We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help.”

Authorities continue to investigate the disappearance as an apparent abduction. As of publication, no verified proof of life has been released, and the search remains active.
