Tiffany Haddish will not serve additional jail time after resolving a legal case connected to her 2022 arrest in Georgia.
The comedian pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor alcohol-related driving charge on August 11 and received probation under the negotiated agreement.
Tiffany entered her guilty plea by video in Fayette County State Court, according to the Associated Press.
The “Girls Trip” actress was sentenced to 12 months of probation and 24 hours in jail. However, she received credit for the brief time she spent in custody following her original arrest, meaning she will not serve additional jail time.
The court ordered Tiffany to avoid drugs and alcohol during her probation. She will also be subjected to testing and must complete a substance abuse evaluation and DUI course.
Her driving privileges in Georgia were suspended, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. The other traffic charges filed against her were dismissed as part of the agreement.
What Happened During Her 2022 Arrest
Tiffany was arrested in Peachtree City, Georgia, on January 14, 2022.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., a person called 911 after reportedly seeing someone asleep in the driver’s seat of a white Ford Explorer at a traffic light. The caller said the driver’s foot appeared to be on the brake.
An officer later spotted an SUV matching the description and stopped Tiffany as she pulled into a neighborhood, according to a police report cited by the Associated Press.
Police said their investigation led to Tiffany’s arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was transported to Fayette County Jail and released on bond several hours later.
Her Attorneys Previously Sought a Dismissal
The case remained unresolved for more than four years.
Tiffany’s attorneys asked a judge to dismiss the charges in May 2026, arguing that the lengthy delay violated her constitutional right to a speedy trial. They also said the pending case created personal and professional difficulties for the entertainer.
Fayette County State Court Judge Jason Thompson denied the request.
The judge determined that Tiffany and her legal team had requested some of the delays. He also found that they did not provide evidence showing that the case caused her to lose specific work opportunities or experience demonstrable financial harm.
Her guilty plea ended the case before it proceeded to trial.
Tiffany Previously Resolved Another Case
Tiffany was arrested again in Beverly Hills, California, in November 2023 after authorities received a report about a person who appeared to be slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle with its engine running.
She reached an agreement with prosecutors in February 2024 and pleaded no contest to a vehicle code violation. Two misdemeanor DUI charges were dropped in that case.
Her Breakout Career
Tiffany achieved her major Hollywood breakthrough in the 2017 comedy “Girls Trip.” Her other film credits include “Night School,” “Like a Boss” and “The Kitchen.”
She became the first Black female stand-up comedian to host “Saturday Night Live” in 2017 and won an Emmy for the appearance the following year.
Tiffany also won the 2021 Grammy Award for best comedy album for her Netflix special “Black Mitzvah,” becoming the second Black woman to receive the honor.
