“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Erika Jayne revealed on Season 15 that she was a victim of domestic violence. Jayne kept her story private until one moment made her feel she needed to speak up, and she got real about it on “Watch What Happens Live.”
Erika Jayne Honestly Reveals Why She Shared Her Abuse Story
Andy Cohen took a moment before WWHL began to address Jayne’s reveal that she was a victim of domestic violence not that long ago. The host sweetly called her courageous for speaking out on the topic and asked what had led her to speak up.
“I felt like sharing it because it was the right moment. It was with Denise. She had gone through the same, well obviously everything is a little different but, that was the right moment,” the “Pretty Mess” author shared.
Jayne claimed the response to her story has been beyond great, and she thanked fans for it after coming clean about a challenging topic. When Cohen asked if Jayne was scared after telling what happened to her, she admitted, “I wanted to quit the show.”
The reason she was so fearful was because of everything that has happened to her publicly over the past six years, through her divorce from Thomas Girardi, his health, and all her legal troubles that are connected to him.
Jayne was also worried about the response from her abuser. “If someone will abuse under certain circumstances they will do it again,” the reality TV star declared.
Actress Elizabeth Perkins was also a WWHL guest and called Jayne “incredibly brave” for being open and honest about her situation.
One episode of RHOBH Season 15 featured Janye sharing her abuse during a dinner with Denise Richards and Sutton Stracke. Jayne admitted that she had recently gone through a similar abuse situation as Richards and that it wasn’t that long ago.
The Bravo personality admitted that the person in question was not her current boyfriend, John ‘Shrek’ McPhee, who she finally introduced to her cast members on the Season 15 finale of RHOBH.
Erika Jayne Surprised She’s Still on The Show
On WWHL, Cohen and Jayne also got real about her time on the reality TV show, with him admitting she has to be surprised to still be on it after a decade.
“I was surprised that I was on in the first place, and then now it’s been 10 years,” Jayne expressed before confirming that former RHOBH star Yolanda Hadid was the one who put her up to be a cast member.
She also looked back on some of her reactive moments since joining RHOBH, sharing that she’s done a lot of work on herself and isn’t the same person she was back then.
Jayne didn’t give anything away about whether she will return for RHOBH Season 16 or the upcoming three-part reunion, kicking off on Thursday, April 23. The first look video reveals that things get quite heated between her, Kyle Richards, and Dorit Kemsley.
