Kandi Burruss Hints at Reason for Split from Todd Tucker on ‘Watch What Happens Live’

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss filed for divorce from her husband of 11 year, Todd Tucker, on November 21, 2025. Now for the first time, the 49-year-old has alluded to the exact reason for the split, saying a “specific incident” went down over the summer.

While appearing on the February 22 episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” host Andy Cohen asked the “No Scrubs” songwriter, “Had you and Todd been considering a separation before you decided it was the right decision?”

To that, Kandi replied, “Oh, no. It happened like, in July. In July, that was when I was like, ‘Oh yea, nah. I can’t do this no more.’

Cohen then asked, “Was there a specific moment or thing that happened?” Kandi responded, “Yeah, it was a specific situation that happened,” before saying she wouldn’t be going into the details. “I’m not talking about it on ‘Watch What Happens,’ the mom of three laughed.

Kandi Burruss Has Spoken Out About Her Split from Todd a Few Times

Shortly after filing for divorce, Kandi released a statement on her breakup. The Xscape girl group member told People, “After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce. This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect.”

The same month, Kandi spoke out about she was doing during an Amazon Live stream. She told her fans, “I’m going to be very honest with you. I am up and down.” She also called going through a divorce “not the easiest thing” and added “sometimes you’re cool, then sometimes you have your moments of sadness.”

Kandi Laughed About How Much Money She Gives to Her Daughter Riley

On a lighter note, Cohen asked Kandi during her “WWHL” appearance whether she gives more financial support to her mom or her 23-year-old daughter Riley, who stars on Bravo’s hit “Next Gen NYC.”

“Oh that’s easy. Riley!” she exclaimed, before going on, “Riley runs through my pockets. Oh my god. I mean you now, she lives in New York in a 2-bedroom in a nice building.” Kandi went on to reveal Riley doesn’t have a roommate, meaning the young reality star has the whole place to herself.

Kandi said her daughter, who has aspirations of becoming a lawyer, argued that she needed a 2-bedroom by telling her famous mother, “Mom, it’s for my mental health.” She laughed, “I promise you, it was a whole thing.”

  1. That’s a mom who can afford to help her daughter. I’m for it 100% I don’t have Kandi’s money but I helped my son by buying him 2 new cars and paying for his car insurance and phone. I never charged my son board. That’s insane to charge your children room and board. They certainly didn’t ask to be born. I gave my son everything I could afford as a divorced parent HE didn’t want for anything. So I’m 100 % for Kandi spoiling her daughter. Ain’t nothing wrong with that!!!!!
