Kyle Richards Reveals Why She Keeps Her Dating Life Private on RHOBH

Kyle Richards opened up about dating in the public eye nearly three years after her separation from her husband, Mauricio Umansky. During a March 2026 appearance on “The Bossticks” podcast, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” veteran teased that while she gets the most backlash for being private, most of her co-stars also keep their dating lives off of the show.

“You know, like a lot of the girls in the show, they’ll keep like, they’re dating private, off camera, and they don’t want to talk about it,” Richards revealed. “And we all just kind of know we don’t say anything. But then all of a sudden, the rules are different [for me]. You know, all of a sudden, you’re like, ‘Wait a minute. No one here has shown and talked about [who they’re dating].’”

The current cast of RHOBH features no actual married “Housewives,” with the exception of “friend of” Kathy Hilton. Richards, Erika Jayne, Dorit Kemsley, Sutton Stracke, and Rachel Zoe are all either separated or divorced. Bozoma Saint John and Amanda Frances are both engaged, and Jennifer Tilly is in a long-term relationship.

Kyle Richards Admitted Reality TV Can Feel ‘Invasive’

Richards has faced a lot of scrutiny over keeping her private life “private” in the aftermath of her separation from Umansky. Most notably, her close relationship with country singer Morgan Wade became gossiped about, despite her efforts to keep it private.

On “The Bossticks,” Richards noted that RHOBH fans are “very passionate” and are like “sports fans.”

“But sometimes it’s like, my God, they really feel you owe them everything,” she said. “And I’m like, where do you draw the line? … So it could be very invasive, and the audience does think, ‘Uh, you signed up for this,’ is what you hear. But do you want to see me going to the bathroom, showering, having sex, too? Like, where do we draw the line?”

Richards has never confirmed that Wade was more than a friend. But during filming for RHOBH Season 15, she admitted she was in a serious romance after her separation from her husband of nearly 30 years.

“Since separating from Mau, I was in a relationship,” she admitted in a  confessional, per BravoTV.com. “I was at a very vulnerable place in my life, and I fell hard for this person. You know, if I’m in love with somebody, I want to share that. I don’t care. I’m an open person like that. But that doesn’t mean that the person I’m with feels the same way.”

“All the speculation and the gossip and the talking is what ultimately ended it,” she added. “I could’ve weathered the storm, but this is not for everyone.”

Richards noted that her partner didn’t like “the public scrutiny and the life under a microscope” that came with her reality TV fame.

“People think they’re owed an answer,” the RHOBH star added of the fans. “If it [were] only me, I would give all the answers they want, but it’s not just about me.”
