Kyle Richards opened up about a romantic relationship she was involved in following her separation from her husband, Mauricio Umansky—and fans had a lot to say about it.
On the Dec. 11 episode of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” the mom of four admitted that she was in a dating relationship that ended due to the gossip surrounding her personal life.
While many fans online speculated that Richards, 56, had been dating country singer Morgan Wade, 31, all along—a rumor both Richards and Wade had repeatedly denied—many others showed support for the Bravo star for finally talking about it on camera.
In comments on Instagram, fans said they felt “bad” for Richards for having to end the relationship with someone she clearly cared about.
“This makes me sad for her. It was nobody’s business and super unfortunate that the outside noise ruined that love. Not meant to be I guess, but still sad,” one fan wrote.
“This actually makes me really sad for Kyle. She obviously was, maybe still is, very much in love with Morgan. And it was clearly Morgan who ended it. There is no worse feeling. I hope she goes on to find someone amazing. ❤️,” added another.
“So happy that Kyle finally confessed. It was very unexpected to be honest. I know how she feels and I’m glad that she finally opened up about it and why she was keeping it private,” another wrote.
Kyle Richards Said She Had to Keep the Relationship Private
On the RHOBH Season 15 episode “Bearing It All,” Richards came clean in a confessional. “Since separating from Mau, I was in a relationship. I was in a very vulnerable place in my life, and I fell hard for this person,” she admitted on camera for the first time. “When I’m in love with somebody, I want to share that, I don’t care, I’m an open person like that. But that doesn’t mean the person I’m with feels the same way,” Richards said.
She added, “All the speculation and the gossip and the talking is what ultimately ended it. I could have weathered the storm, but this is not for everyone.”
While Wade appeared in several episodes of RHOBH season 13, she was not mentioned by name at all the following season. At the time, Richards told Us Weekly that she would not address her friendship with Wade onscreen.
“What’s hard is that I can only speak on my behalf,” Richards told the outlet in 2024. “I’m not here to speak on anyone’s behalf but my own, especially someone who’s not signed up to do this show and doesn’t want to be spoken about on the show.”
Dorit Kemsley Seemingly Confirmed That Kyle Richards Was in a Relationship With Morgan Wade
While Richards has still not confirmed that the person she dated was Wade, her RHOBH co-star Dorit Kemsley strongly hinted that’s who it was.
During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” just after the “Bearing It All” episode aired on Bravo, Kemsley said if Richards had just come clean as she did during season 15, it wouldn’t have been a big deal.
“That’s all she ever really had to say,” Kemsley told host Andy Cohen. “That’s it. All you ever had to say was that and nothing else would’ve followed.”
Fellow guest Zooey Deschanel showed support for Richards, noting that she could see “how it could be difficult if you’re on a show for a long time and your life is very public and you get involved with somebody and they don’t want to be public…that would be hard.”
“She’s a public figure, by the way,” Kemsley told Deschanel of Richards’ former flame.
