Kyle Richards is stepping in as one of the first cast members to publicly defend Amanda Frances and her message is clear.
Tension is building on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” Fans are already questioning Frances’ future. Richards, the only original cast member, does not see her as a one-season Housewife.
“No, you know what? People just sometimes are misunderstood,” Richards said during a recent Amazon Live appearance when asked if Frances could be “one and done.” “I said she was a millennial, you know she communicates differently.”
It is a notable defense, especially given how Frances’ first season has played out so far.
Amanda Frances Facing Early RHOBH Backlash From Castmates
Frances entered the season as a newcomer but has quickly found herself at odds with several members of the group.
In recent episodes, tensions have surfaced with multiple castmates. That includes Rachel Zoe, Bozoma Saint John, and Dorit Kemsley. Much of the conflict centers on communication style, tone, and intent.
Viewers have noticed. Many are questioning whether Frances is meshing with the group at all.
But Richards’ comments suggest the situation may not be as simple as it appears on screen.
Kyle Richards Suggests There’s More to Amanda Frances
GettyRather than dismissing Frances’ struggles, Richards pointed to a broader disconnect.
“She’s actually a smart girl,” Richards said.
She also hinted that generational differences may be playing a role in how Frances is perceived within the group, particularly when it comes to communication style and delivery.
In this franchise, tone and timing matter. Social awareness can make or break a Housewife.
Richards’ perspective reframes Frances not as an outsider, but as someone who may simply be navigating the group differently.
A Business Edge That Could Keep Her in the Mix
Richards also made it clear Frances brings real-world credibility to the cast. That often plays a role in who lasts on RHOBH.
“Her item of business is coming under scrutiny but she is successful. I mean she bought my house in Bel-Air so you gotta give her props and give her a chance,” she said.
That detail carries weight within the Housewives universe, where success and lifestyle are central to the show’s identity.
It also signals that Frances may have more grounding within the group than early episodes suggest.
Still Finding Her Place — and Not Going Anywhere Yet
Richards added that she barely knew Frances before filming began, emphasizing that the relationships viewers are watching develop are still new.
“I met her one time for two minutes once so we all got to know each other at the same time,” she explained.
That context is key.
Frances’ debut has been tense. But it is also unfolding in real time. She does not have the built-in relationships many veteran cast members rely on.
And if Richards’ read is correct, that adjustment period may be far from over.
One of the most influential voices in the franchise is making it clear. Amanda Frances is not done yet.

Keep Amanda and dump Sutton
Sutton brings nothing good to the show
I’ve been saying from the get go that Amanda is younger & could be one of the cast members daughter’s. Would they like it if someone was continually critiquing, berating , judging & down right being mean to one of their kids… Some cast members are desperate for a story line because they do not have one except for shopping. So let’s attack the new girl who is much younger than you. Be supportive & keep your self centered opinions to yourself. Attacking her for finding the strenghth to get out of a cult like situation is pathetic. Dorit is the worse with her fake accent, always making everything about herself, to the point that she is consistently late because of her Glam & shopping… she want even let Amanda finish a sentence without jumping her shit for her next pathetic opinion of this young lady. Also, for Dorit to keep making excuses & thinking it was ok, to keep attacking Amanda on her Son’s death anniversary shows us all we need to know about Dorit. Dorit can’t handle how calm Amanda tries to be while constantly being judged. They are all so use to someone screaning and acting like a child when someone had an opinion about them. It’s adult bullying & they need to be reminded that everybody has their breaking point. Dorit needs to remember that all this is being filmed and one day will show her daughter just how self centered , shallow and hateful she is with other women regardless of her age. I really like Boaz & Rachel Zoe but am very disappointed on how they have jumped on board with Dorit’s relentless negative comments & attacks against Amanda. Boaz you know you are wrong for continually questioning & attacking Amanda along side Dorit & you did make the mean sarcastic remark about the mask with her standing right there & ya’ll laughing. How old are you people? This is so junior highish & makes me want to vomit. We women already had it hard in life. That’s why I always advocate being supportive of other women, regardless of their age, past, what they wear or how much money they have. It’s not a good look being a catty woman towards others. It only shows how you have issues & are taking it out on other women. Look none of us are perfect & Dorit is definitely far from it. Karma is a bi…. & remember God don’t like ugly!
Oh please, smfh.
What a joke! Kyle is defending Amanda because she brought her on the show
As far as I’m concerned, you both need to go……especially Amanda!
