Kyle Richards Vulnerably Reveals Heartbreaking Text Messages From Husband Mauricio Umansky

Kyle Richards is getting emotional while reflecting on her marriage to Mauricio Umansky.

In a preview for “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th,” the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star opens up to “Real Housewives of Orange County” alum Vicki Gunvalson about a painful milestone in her relationship with her estranged husband, according to a clip from Bravo

The Text that Richards Received

“Today’s my 30-year anniversary,” Richards tells Gunvalson. “It just makes me sad, you know? He sent me a text and it just set me off.”

Richards then reveals what Umansky wrote to her on the anniversary.

“It said, ‘Today’s always such a hard day,’ and ‘I love you.’ He said, ‘I don’t know how we got here.’ That’s what he said.”

The message clearly struck a nerve with Richards, who admitted she had once believed their marriage was stronger than what they were experiencing at the time.

“I thought we were stronger than that, you know? I really had thought that,” she said.

Gunvalson, who was listening to Richards process the emotional moment, admitted she had also believed the couple would remain together.

“As an outsider? I thought so too,” Gunvalson said.

The longtime reality TV star then explained why Richards’ situation was particularly difficult to watch.

“My heart is breaking for Kyle because they’ve got everything that everybody’s looking for. And 30 years of marriage, and all the sudden it’s dissolving?” Gunvalson said.

For Richards, the end of her marriage has also been complicated by how fans responded to their relationship.

She explained that some viewers had looked to her and Umansky as proof that lasting love was possible.

“The thing that bothered me the most, honestly, was people saying that we gave them hope that true love existed. And now, that went out the window for them,” Richards said. “But, I understand people thinking like that.”

Richards Is Honest With Her Feelings

The conversation also made Richards consider whether the sadness surrounding her marriage would eventually fade.

“I mean, twenty years from now, when you’re older, it’s going to be [your 50 year anniversary],” Gunvalson told her.

“Is it still going to bother me then?” Richards asked.

“Of course it is! It still bothers me with Donn,” Gunvalson replied, referring to her ex-husband, Donn Gunvalson. She filed for divorce from him in 2010 after more than 15 years of marriage.

Richards admitted that hearing Gunvalson say she still thinks about her former marriage made her nervous.

“I mean, when I hear Vicki say that the pain still lives within her, it scares me. I wanna be past this,” Richards said.

Despite the emotional challenges, Richards and Umansky continue to maintain a relationship as co-parents. Richards recently told Bravo Insider that they still get along and spent the Fourth of July together in Aspen with their daughters.

The former couple has also continued celebrating family milestones together. Their daughter Alexia turned 30 in June, while their youngest daughter, Portia, graduated from high school.

The family is also preparing to welcome a new generation. Richards and Umansky are set to become first-time grandparents when Farrah Brittany welcomes her first child in November.

Umansky congratulated Farrah after she announced her pregnancy, writing, “You are gorgeous and I’m so happy for all of us and this baby is going to be so loved. I can’t wait wooohooo.”
