The new season of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” is due to premiere next month, much to the excitement of fans across the country. But emotions ran high for many of the Bravo famous faces, who were filming following the death of their co-star Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Jr. Meredith Marks and Alexia Nepola have opened up about how it was tough to film and praised Mary for how she’s been navigating her journey through grief.
What Did Meredith and Alexia Say?
Yesterday Meredith and Alexia appeared on Nova’s “Jase, Lauren and Clint” podcast to talk about filming for the show’s newest season, and they were asked about how Mary and her co-stars managed to keep the cameras rolling despite people being in the middle of “dealing with awful, raw emotion.”
Meredith listened to the question thoughtfully and bigged up her co-star. She said: “Mary, you’ll see, her strength is so inspirational. She handled the whole situation so beautifully, and I think it will be really incredible to watch. I think it will be very tough for her. I think that … the show, I think, gave her another focus during a very difficult time.
Meredith also added that one of the downsides of working in TV is “you relive things later” because you focus on the job at hand and shelve processing all of your emotions. Then, afterwards, they might come back up to the surface.
Alexia chimed in saying that it’s so hard dealing with grief in the public eye because people will insert their opinions into it or repost about it months later so it could pop back up on someone’s phone and bring back a wave of pain.
She said: “So that thing will happen, we all see it play out. Some blogger will do it, you know, post it on their social media, and then the whole world tunes in. And, you know, not everybody is going to see it the same. And I think that’s what makes it so hard for us. Not only that we relive the moment months later, but then after it comes out on social media, then everybody weighs in and gives their opinion, and I think that’s really hard. I think that you really have to have that thick skin.”
What Happened To Mary’s Son?
In February, Mary confirmed that her 23-year-old son Robert had passed away from a suspected overdose. In a statement posted online, the reality TV star announced: “Our beloved son, Robert Jr., has been called home to the Lord,” Mary shared in a statement at the time. “Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”
Robert’s battle with addiction was mentioned several times during episodes of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City”, as Mary spoke candidly about the struggles her son faced. Our hearts go out to Mary and the cast, and we wish them all the best.
