SEE: ‘RHOSLC’ Star Britani Bateman Sings on ‘American Idol’ During Surprise Cameo

Britani Bateman, 54, made a surprise appearance on “American Idol” on Monday, Feb. 2, where she not only made one of her infamous announcements — she also showcased her incredible singing voice.

The “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star joined her niece Carmen Lowell Martin, 20, during her season 24 audition in Nashville. In an Instagram video shared by “American Idol” of the cameo, the two could be seen walking in together to greet the judges.

Bateman quickly commanded the room by dinging a glass cup with a butter knife, saying, “I have an announcement!”

“This is my beautiful niece Carmelita!” she continued. “Do you know me? I’m Britani… Britani Bateman.”

Martin chimed in to support her aunt as the judges looked dumbfounded. “‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,’” the contestant said of the Bravo star.

As Bateman continued to speak highly of her niece, Carrie Underwood joked that if she, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie “don’t have good things to say, she has a knife,” referring to Bateman’s announcement essentials.

Despite Bateman’s presence, she told the judges that she wouldn’t be stealing the stage from Martin, who went on to audition by covering “Thought It Was Love” by Ty Myers.

Martin beautifully sang the song as she played the piano, bringing tears to her aunt’s eyes. The judges were also impressed with the audition. “You have a really pretty voice, like your range is really great,” Underwood said.

The contestant then shocked the judges by telling them she and Bateman had “something to sing together.” That’s when Bateman showcased her singing voice — something she has yet to reveal on “RHOSLC.”

In a video from the “American Idol” YouTube, Martin could be seen sitting behind the piano with Bateman standing beside her. Singing “Let Me Be Your Star” from SMASH, Bateman and Martin showed off their harmonies, with the “RHOSLC” star singing parts of the lyrics as a solo.

When they finished their performance, all three of the judges joyfully clapped for the pair, with Underwood giving them her stamp of approval. “Runs in the family!” the country singer said.

Although the judges told Martin that they’d like to see her loosen up and own the stage with her powerful vocals instead of sitting behind the piano, she received a “yes” from all three judges.

Before Bateman became a Bravo star, she had a career with Disney as a stage performer. According to Reality Tea, Bateman played Ariel in “The Little Mermaid” musical and Belle in the “Beauty and the Beast” musical after she graduated from Brigham Young University.
