Teddi Mellencamp has given fans another candid look at the physical toll of her cancer battle. In a new video posted to her social media, she removed her wig to reveal her natural hair growth. The former “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star has regularly worn wigs since starting her radiation treatment. This was prompted by her own hair loss as she battled cancer.
During the Instagram story video, Mellencamp takes off both her wig and cap to give fans a glimpse at her real hair. A follow-up video also included the reality television personality showing off another milestone in her recovery. The video shows Mellencamp walking down a hallway in large high heels, something that she admits she has only felt capable of recently.
Teddi Mellencamp Shows Her Real Hair After Radiation
Mellencamp has frequently chronicled her cancer treatment journey. In the latest social media post, she provides her fans with a look at how her natural hair is returning. Initially wearing long braided pigtails and a baseball cap, she removed both. The reality star then smiled and scratched her hair, showcasing its length and thickness.
She had previously revealed how radiation treatment had caused her to lose all of her hair. Since then, she has worn wigs to maintain the appearance that she has hair. Earlier this year, she told Bravo TV that her hair had reached a length that made wearing wigs difficult.
“You guys have been so much help in giving me amazing referrals for great wigs that I’ve been using for the past however many months,” said Mellencamp. “But my question now is…. now what? What? The hair is too long for the wigs and I’m sick of the wigs, but like, what are we supposed to do here? Someone send tips.”
During the hair reveal, Mellencamp explained that she felt the need to be authentic with her fans. “Whenever I do a lot of posts and I’m in full glam, then I feel the need to, like, be honest and show you guys the reality of the situation now [that] I’m done working,” she said in the video. “This is what we got going on.”
The 45-year-old added in a second video, “I am sort of able to walk in heels again. Not great but baby steps.”
Teddi Mellencamp Continues Cancer Treatment
Just last week, Mellencamp provided her followers with an update on her cancer treatment. Alongside a throwback workout video from 2024, she wrote, “Pre-brain tumor Teddi took herself very seriously on the gram.”
“Nine more months of [weekly immunotherapy] treatments. Let’s hope I’ll be back to being cringe in my workout posts soon [because] I know y’all miss them,” she added.
Mellencamp was initially diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022. Since then she has undergone numerous treatments to treat the disease. She revealed last year that doctors had discovered that the cancer has spread to her brain and lungs, requiring further radiotherapy and immunotherapy.
Although further tests in October 2025 discovered “no detectable cancer” in her body, she has continued treatment. That’s because doctors do not consider her to be in remission yet and want to ensure the cancer doesn’t return.
