Former “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Teddi Mellencamp is addressing the concerning remarks her father, John Mellencamp, made amid her ongoing cancer journey. During an appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast on Jan. 14, the singer suggested his daughter was “suffering” and encouraged her to leave Los Angeles and move back to Indiana.
Speaking on her “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast with her co-host Tamra Judge, Teddi agreed that her father’s comments were coming from the perspective of a “concerned dad” and defended what he said.
Teddi Mellencamp Addresses Her Dad’s Remarks About Her ‘Suffering’ Amid Her Cancer Journey
GettyTeddi Mellencamp is defending her father, John Mellencamp, after his recent comments about his daughter’s cancer journey. During a Jan. 22 episode of her “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast, Mellencamp agreed with her co-host Tamra Judge that her father was speaking as a “concerned dad,” despite the alarming nature of his comments.
“My dad went on [the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast] and told everybody I was suffering. Now, I’ve been in, like, a doozy of a situation of so many people messaging me,” she began.
“He calls every single day, he’s coming out here next week. He wants to make sure, you know, like, he’s doing the best everybody’s doing,” Teddi said. “But I mean, he’s not wrong. I’ve definitely, I mean, I have been suffering. I have been crying a lot. I’ve been super emotional. I’ve even had, like, a support group.”
She continued, “Like, there’s some days that I feel like I can’t even move, and there’s some days that I’m like, ‘Oh, I could go do anything.’”
Mellencamp also clarified that her “cancer is not worse.”
In fact, in October 2025, while on her podcast, Teddi shared that there was “no detectable cancer,” following treatment for stage 4 melanoma that had spread to her brain and lungs.
John Mellencamp’s Health Update About His Daughter
GettyThe former Real Housewives star’s dad appeared on “The Joe Rogan Experience” last week when he gave a rather unsettling update on his daughter’s cancer battle.
“I do have a daughter that’s really sick,” he told the host, adding, “It’s not [expletive] fun. She’s got cancer in the brain, and she’s suffering right now.”
He had also asked her to move to Indiana with her children. “I’m going to go out and see her [in Los Angeles]. I’ve tried to talk her into moving back home. I said, ‘Move back to Indiana, bring the kids and just come back and live in Indiana,’ but she won’t do it.”
On Jan. 16, the “Hurts So Good” singer appeared on “3rd Hour of Today,” where he doubled down on his comments from “The Joe Rogan Experience,” again saying his daughter was “suffering” and should leave Los Angeles.
“Suffering,” he shared when asked about her current health. “You can’t say you’re cancer-free with the type of cancer she’s got for three years. So she has lesions in her brain, it went from her back, just a little, teeny spot on her. Over the last couple years it grew, and it got inside her brain and her lungs,” he added.
