The 28th annual Family Film & TV Awards will be a magical hour-long broadcast celebrating some of the biggest stars in film and television. This year, it will be hosted by a fan favorite, feature performances by a country music icon, and honor a reality TV host who is an undeniably deserving recipient of the Icon Award.

How to Watch the 28th Annual Family Film & TV Awards

The Family Film & TV Awards are back for their 28th year! It will be held on Saturday, December 20, from 8 to 9 p.m. ET/PT. It is available to watch on CBS and can be streamed on Paramount+. 


Who Is Hosting & Performing?

“Big Brother” host Julie Chen Moonves is hosting the award show this evening. She will be joined onstage by country music legend Blake Shelton. Shelton will be performing, although it is unclear what his set will include. 


Who Is Nominated?

Some of the categories to look out for tonight include Favorite Actor in a Feature Film. The nominees include Adam Sandler for “Happy Gilmore 2,” Helena Zengel for “The Legend of Ochi,” Jamie Lee Curtis for “Freakier Friday,” and Liam Neeson for “The Naked Gun.”

Favorite Feature Film nominees are “Happy Gilmore 2,” “Lilo & Stitch,” “Nonnas,” “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,” and “Superman.” 

Another category to watch is the Favorite Classic Television Series, with nominees that include “Freaks and Geeks,” “Home Improvement,” “That’s So Raven,” “The Simpsons,” and “Wizards of Waverly Place.” 

Favorite Iconic Family Film nominees include “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “Home Alone,” “The Karate Kid,” and “The Sandlot.” There are also categories for Favorite Game Show, Favorite Ensemble Television Series, Favorite Sports Movie, and Favorite Competition Television Series. For this category, the nominees include “America’s Got Talent,” “Big Brother,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Survivor,” and “The Voice.”

It will also be a big night for “Survivor” host Jeff Probst, who will receive the Icon Award. Penn & Teller will receive the Outstanding Family Entertainers Award for their dedication to creating memorable comedic moments over the last 50 years. 


Supporting a Good Cause

The 28th annual Family Film & TV Awards will support the U.S. Marine Toys for Tots program, which is “a year-round initiative serving families nationwide. This year’s broadcast will highlight the Marines’ ongoing efforts to empower children with the tools they need to thrive,” PR Newswire reports
