Fans Offer Support to ‘Married at First Sight UK’ Groom After His Values Were Criticized

Fans of ‘Married at First Sight UK‘ have rallied to support one of the show’s grooms after his values were harshly criticized by his bride.

On the Wednesday, October 1 episode of series 10, Divarni Balogun and Julia-Ruth Smith were set a task by the show’s experts in which they had to rank a list of relationship values by order of importance.

From most important to least important, Balogun ranked the values in the following order; Children, intelligence, honesty, ambition, humor, occupation, money, sex, and looks. For clarity, that means he sees having children and an intelligent partner as his two most important priorities in a relationship, with sex and looks as the least important.

To most people, that should seem like the list of a decent man — especially given that the superficial concept of looks was placed last. However, as seen in a video posted to the show’s official Instagram page, Smith was not impressed.

Smith Had Many ‘Questions to Ask’ About Balogun’s Choices

Rather than praise Balogun for his wholesome list of priorities, Smith took it upon herself to criticize her husband — even going as far as questioning the type of man he is.

Smith said, “Divarni’s put sex and looks at the bottom of his list. So I’ve got a lot of questions to ask.”

When she asked him why sex was so low on his list, Balogun replied honestly, saying, “I want to know the person before anything else. And that’s why I put it at the bottom.”

Smith continued, “So someone’s ambition to you is more important than sex?”

He replied, “Yeah. Because all of this will connect a person. And then this [sex] composites everything else.”

The complaints from Smith continued off-camera. She said, “For him, it’s looks and sex is the last thing on the man’s mind. On a man’s mind. Looks and sex is the last thing on a man’s mind?”

She then finished her questioning of Balogun with an unconvincing “Okay” and a face that suggested mockery of his priorities. It all seemed rather harsh.

‘Married at First Sight UK’ Fans Rushed to Defend Balogun

When the video was uploaded to Instagram, fans of ‘Married at First Sight UK’ rushed to defend Balogun.

One user commented, “If my husband says to me “it doesn’t matter to me that your body has changed and we don’t have sex as much anymore…I love you for everything else we have together and you have to offer” I would count myself as an EXTREMELY lucky woman.”

Another commenter wrote, “I think his list was VALUES, her list was THINGS I WANT ✨.”

Similarly, someone else said, “I think his list makes perfect sense.”

An additional ‘Married at First Sight UK’ fan praised Balogun, simply writing, “That is a good man.”

Others believe Smith’s intention on the show is to get famous, with one writing, “Went on the show thinking she’s gonna stand out gain a huge following and everyone’s gonna love her and she is standing out for all the wrong reasons.”

‘Married at First Sight UK’ fans will learn more about Balogun and Smith’s relationship when the show continues tonight, Thursday, October 2, at 9 p.m. GMT on E4.
