A former groom from the UK version of “Married at First Sight” has revealed he’s been the victim of a careless hit-and-run driver.
Paul Liba, 29, appeared on the eight series of “Married at First Sight UK” in 2023, when he was matched with childcare assistant Tasha Jay. The couple went the distance on the show, opting to stay together in the final vows ceremony, but have since gone their separate ways.
Liba, an account manager, has now revealed someone drove into him while driving in his car — and that the culprit drove away without taking responsibility for the incident.
Liba Sarcastically Bemoaned His ‘Great Start’ to the Day
Liba took to his Instagram account, where he has over 87,000 followers, to post a story with a series of pictures showing the damage done to his vehicle in the incident.
Accompanying the first picture, showing his car with a damaged back wheel, a flat tire, and a dented side, he wrote, “What a great start to the morning. Involved in a hit and run.” The text also featured a car emoji, an explosion emoji, and an exasperated emoji.
The second picture, accompanied by a further four exasperated emojis, showed that his car had spun out in the road in the collision. The image also showed a police car in the background, a fire officer walking towards Liba, and a fire truck to the former “Married at First Sight” groom’s left. The incident was clearly serious enough to have the attention of the emergency services.
Liba Is Now in a New Relationship After MAFS
The hit-and-run incident will have put a dampener on what is otherwise an extremely exciting time for Liba, as he recently revealed that he and his current girlfriend have purchased a beautiful home together.
An Instagram post on August 6, featuring a picture of Liba and his partner, Sophie Currie, followed by several interior shots of their new pad, read, “Home is where the heart is, and ours just found its perfect spot! 🏡✨ Can’t wait to make a lifetime of memories with my girl ❤️ #firsthome #newbeginnings #homesweethome.”
Several further photos showing Liba and Currie looking happy together have followed on Liba’s Instagram. We wish the couple all the very best for the future — and we hope Liba isn’t too shaken up after being the victim of a hit-and-run incident.
Liba’s news comes just ahead of the return of “Married at First Sight UK,” as its tenth series is set to start airing on E4 on Sunday, September 21 at 9 p.m. GMT. Viewers with access to the Channel 4 video on demand service can also watch the new series around the world.
