One of ‘General Hospital’s’ Youngest Stars Shares Health Update After Scary Accident

One of “General Hospital’s” youngest stars recently found himself dealing with a storyline that felt a little too close to home.

Gary James Fuller, who has portrayed James West since 2023, revealed that he spent nearly a week in the hospital and underwent two surgeries following an accident.

Thankfully, the 10-year-old actor is now recovering and receiving plenty of support from his castmates and fans. Read on to discover what the young Port Charles favorite shared about his frightening ordeal.

Gary James Fuller Reveals He Spent Nearly a Week in the Hospital

One of “General Hospital’s” youngest stars took an unfortunate trip to the ER. 10-year-old Gary James Fuller has portrayed James West, the son of Maxie Jones and the late Nathan West, since 2023. Just like his character, it seems like Fuller might just be a little adrenaline junkie with an unfortunate streak of being accident-prone.

A photo of Fuller was posted to his Instagram account on June 5, 2026, with the caption, “So…I pulled a ‘James.’”

A lengthy explanation followed, “If you watch General Hospital, you know James has spent his fair share of time in the ER. Apparently, I decided that playing him wasn’t enough—I had to try it myself.”

Gary James Fuller Reveals He Was Hospitalized After a Mini-Bike Accident

“What started as a ride on my mini bike turned into a trip to the trauma center, two surgeries, and almost a week in the hospital. Definitely not how I planned to spend my week,” the account added.

Thankfully, the 10-year-old “General Hospital” star appears to be on the mend. Fuller also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support he received during his recovery.

“My General Hospital family checked in with FaceTime calls, messages, and encouragement. I got so much love from my castmates, casting, wardrobe, my studio teachers, agents, manager, and so many people behind the scenes. It meant a lot to know I had such a big team cheering me on while I recovered.”

The young star is now back home, looking forward to making the most of his summer, sharing that he’s “getting back to baseball, racing, filming, and all the things I love to do.”

The young actor ended his update with a joke that soap fans are sure to appreciate, writing, “But just so everyone knows…from now on, I’m going to let James handle the ER storylines.”

‘General Hospital’ Castmates and Fans Send Well Wishes

Fuller’s post quickly filled with supportive messages from both his “General Hospital” co-stars and fans.

Tanisha Harper, who portrays Jordan Ashford on the soap, commented, “Oh my goodness, get well soon, sweet Gary!”

Bradford Anderson, who plays Damian Spinelli and serves as something of a pseudo stepfather to James on-screen, wrote, “Oh, Gary!! Glad to see you’re ok and still smiling. Miss you buddy!!”

Sawandi Wilson, who portrays Dr. Isaiah Gannon, also chimed in, commenting, “Nooo. Get well soon! Take it easy.”

Fans were equally relieved to learn that Fuller is recovering.

One viewer wrote, “Oh no! Two surgeries! So scary, but glad you’re on the mend. Yes, maybe leave the stunts to James, please.”

Another commented, “Oh my goodness!! Hope your recovery continues to go smoothly! Take care!”

A third fan added, “I am praying for a speedy recovery for you. I love seeing you onscreen as James. I hope we get to see you back onscreen really soon.”

Based on the response to his post, it’s clear that Fuller has plenty of people rooting for him as he continues his recovery and prepares to return to the activities he loves.
