“General Hospital” star Steve Burton (Jason) is in the middle of his temporary break from the hit ABC soap. The actor has addressed why he needed some time away, as has his good friend Maurice Benard (Sonny). Burton shared an update on his future with “General Hospital,” and it’s good news for fans.
Steve Burton Shares ‘General Hospital’ Return Update
On his podcast “That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford,” Burton confirmed he will be back soon. The actor was speaking with his podcast co-host and “General Hospital co-star Bradford Anderson.
They had just wrapped one of their stand-up comedy and Q&A tours, which led Burton to address the question of his return because it was asked a lot while they were on the road.
“I mean the most asked now is when I am coming back,” Burton shared, to which Anderson chuckled and declared “That’s right”.
Burton continued saying, “If I am coming back. When I am coming back. And yes, I am coming back to the show. I start in June, so I’ll be back for sure.”
There wasn’t a specific date that Burton shared for when he would resume filming “General Hospital”. The good news is that whenever he starts filming in June, it means Jason will be back on-screen sometime in July.
Burton’s return aligns with what he told “General Hospital” fans when he first shared that he was taking a hiatus earlier this year. The soap star stated during the announcement that he would be back in the mix in the summer.
In the meantime, Burton plans to keep enjoying his time off with his family. Burton and his wife, Michelle Lundstrom, will celebrate their first wedding anniversary in May. Their blended family includes her daughters, Lilah and Hannah, as well as his son, Jack, and his two daughters, Makena and Brooklyn.

The dynamic duo also addressed a couple of other fan questions regarding the ABC soap. One was, where in the world is Jason. After all, the last time Jason was seen in Port Charles he was being driven away in a WSB van as his son Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) screamed.
“I have no idea,” Burton declared admitting that he doesn’t watch the show. The actor expressed that he learns what is happening on “General Hospital” through fans at their tour Q&A sessions.
Spoilers for the ABC soap hint that an update on Jason’s whereabouts is happening soon. Anderson and Burton seem to think Jason is in some European WSB jail, which led them to talk about Jason’s many prison stints.
Another hot topic for the two guys was the return of Ethan (Nathan Dean) and his newfound job with Sonny. It sure seems like Ethan came in to be Sonny’s right hand while Jason is away.
The latest preview video for “General Hospital” doesn’t mention Jason. It did confirm a lot of jaw-dropping drama going down in Port Charles.
For one thing, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) tells Cassius (Ryan Paevey) that Josslyn (Eden McCoy) is a WSB agent. Another thing is Lucas (Van Hansis) worrying about Carly (Laura Wright) cheating on Jack (Chris McKenna) with a fugitive Valentin (James Patrick Stuart).
