The Duggar family began appearing on TLC in 2008 with the premiere of “17 Kids and Counting,” which later became “19 Kids and Counting,” following the births of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s youngest children: Jordyn-Grace and Josie Duggar.
The family is known for its conservative Christian beliefs and wholesome lifestyle. As more Duggar children get married, keeping track of the extended family tree has become increasingly challenging for longtime fans.
With that in mind, here are five fast facts about the Wissmann family in this edition of Duggar in-laws explained.
1. Two Duggar Siblings Have Married Into the Wissmann Family
Two of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s children have married into the Wissmann family, both of whom are part of a twin set.
Jeremiah Duggar, the twin brother of Jed Duggar, was the first of the Duggar siblings to marry into the Wissmann family. He tied the knot with Hannah Wissmann on March 26, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Jeremiah was 23, and Hannah was 26 when they tied the knot.
Jana Duggar Wissmann, the twin sister of John-David Duggar, was the second Duggar sibling to marry into the Wissmann family. Jana married Stephen Wissmann on August 15, 2024, at The Grand at Willow Springs in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Jana was 34, and Stephen was 31 when they exchanged vows.
2. Loren and Gloria Wissmann Share 13 Children
Jeremiah and Jana Duggar’s in-laws share 13 children, with 8 daughters and 5 sons.
In birth order, the Wissmann siblings include: Rachel Busenitz (1982), Ruth Bourlier (1983), Josiah Wissmann (1985), Bethany Beasley (1986), Andrew Wissmann (1988), Elizabeth Buhr (1989), Matthias Wissmann (1991), Stephen Wissmann (1993), Hannah Duggar (1995), Susanna Jerred (1997), Alaythia Wissmann (1999), Nathanael Wissmann (2001), and Charissa Wissmann (2006).
3. Loren and Gloria Wissmann Have Over 30 Grandchildren
All but two of Loren and Gloria Wissmann’s 13 children have gotten married and started families of their own. As a result, the couple already has over 30 grandkids and counting.
Of their 34 grandchildren, Loren and Gloria Wissmann share four of them with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.
Jeremiah and Hannah Duggar share three daughters: Brynley (2022), Brielle (2024), and Emery (2025).
Stephen and Jana Wissmann welcomed their first child, Archie Wissmann, into the world on December 30, 2025.
4. The Wissmanns Have a Family Band
Jeremiah and Jana Duggar’s in-laws started a family band in 1999, simply called “The Wissmann Family.” The band sings Christian bluegrass-gospel music.
The family has recorded multiple albums and has even traveled around the United States, performing at various churches and festivals.
5. Loren Wissmann Is a Pastor at a Mennonite Church
Loren Wissmann, the father of the Wissmann family, was born in May 1957. His wife, Gloria Hager Wissmann, was born in June 1958. The couple tied the knot in August 1980.
In 1986, Loren Wissmann founded Wissmann Enterprises in Milford, Nebraska. His company specializes in roof coating, sandblasting, painting, trenching, and excavating. Many of Loren’s sons work for the family business, including Jana Duggar’s husband, Stephen Wissmann.
Outside of his construction business, Loren also serves as a pastor at the East Fairview Mennonite Church in Milford, Nebraska.
The Wissmann family has become one of the most closely connected branches of the Duggar extended family, thanks to multiple marriages linking the two families together.
