Brittany Cartwright is pushing back after a private message from estranged husband Jax Taylor spilled into the public eye.
The former couple, who share son Cruz, have spent much of their post-split relationship navigating an increasingly complicated co-parenting dynamic. Now, Brittany is defending herself as a mother after Jax reportedly sent an email criticizing the way she has handled their son’s care and suggesting she has sometimes kept him from seeing Cruz.
After the email surfaced, Brittany addressed the allegations directly on social media, detailing the work she says she has put into supporting their son. Her close friend and “The Valley” co-star Zack Wickham also entered the conversation, firmly backing Brittany and disputing Jax’s claims.
Brittany Cartwright Defends Herself as a Mom
Brittany did not stay silent after Jax’s comments became public.
“I’ve had Cruz in special therapies since he was 2 years old,” she wrote. “I hired a Therapeutic companion to go to preschool with him. I got his IEP plan all on my own. I hired an advocate to help me navigate this new process I am learning.”
Brittany continued by emphasizing that Cruz remains her top priority.
“I have made Cruz my first priority every single day, and I always will,” she wrote. “I’m an advocate for families on the spectrum. I made my son an entire sensory room so he can regulate like he does in occupational therapy. I make every appointment, every school visit, every doctor visit, dentist, etc all on my own.”
She then accused Jax of attempting to create a false impression of her parenting.
“This is projection coming from him, and it’s so sad he would put personal stuff about our son like that on social media even tho he deleted it immediately because it is full of lies,” Brittany wrote. “He wanted to try to make me look how he feels on the inside. He knows I’m a good mom and Cruz is thriving, and he can’t stand it. It’s sick.”
Brittany and Jax announced their separation in 2024 after nearly five years of marriage. Their relationship and the aftermath of their split have since become major storylines surrounding “The Valley.”
Zack Wickham Comes to Brittany’s Defense
Brittany was not the only person to respond.
Zack, one of her closest friends and a fellow “The Valley” cast member, posted his own statement addressing Jax’s accusations.
“I know I don’t have to state this but everything he has stated is a lie,” Zack wrote. “He lives in a delusional land with delusional facts.”
Zack said he normally would not involve himself but drew a line at comments about Brittany’s parenting.
“I will never stand idly by when blatant lies are being stated as facts,” he continued. “It must be a really sad existence for someone to feel the best tactic for attention is to malign the hardworking, loving mother of his child but alas here we are.”
The latest exchange adds another difficult chapter to a breakup that has continued to unfold publicly long after Brittany and Jax separated.
For Brittany, however, her response made one point unmistakably clear: Whatever tensions remain between her and Jax, she does not intend to let criticism of her role as Cruz’s mother go unanswered.
