Bravo fans are well aware of the drama surrounding Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor since their separation in early 2024, followed by Cartwright filing for divorce that August. However, recent headlines have continued to shed light on the challenges between the estranged couple behind-the-scenes.
After Taylor recently took to Instagram in a now-deleted post that accused Cartwright of neglecting their son Cruz’s care, Cartwright is sharing how she’s navigating the negativity and getting support from both her cast and fans.
Brittany Cartwright Gives Update on Life With Son Cruz Following Jax Taylor Comments
“The Valley” star Brittany Cartwright recently shared an update on her life with her 5-year-old son Cruz just a day after her estranged husband, Jax Taylor, posted a lengthy, now-deleted statement criticizing Cartwright over the care of their son.
On Sunday, August 16, Cartwright posted a carousel of snapshots of her life lately, including photos of Cruz and hanging out with her “The Valley” cast outside of filming.
The reality star’s first photo showed mother and son in matching crochet tops as they enjoyed a fun-filled day at The Beverly Hills Hotel. A second photo showed Cruz looking totally cool as he posed in front of the hotel’s neon sign, while a third featured Cartwright holding her son close as he flashed a big smile for the camera. The last photo in her carousel featured Cruz in a classroom with a dinosaur book.
Cartwright captioned her images, “A little slice of life 🫶🏼🍰.”
Cartwright has often spoken out about making Cruz her top priority in life, with her Bravo family defending her every step of the way.
“What a beautiful life you’ve made ❤️ ILYSM,” Janet Caperna wrote in the comment section of her new post. “❤️❤️,” Jasmine Goode shared, while her former VPR co-star Scheana Shay said, “He’s such a cutie!”
Fans in the comment section also appluaded Cartwright for always putting her son’s needs first. “The best mommy ever ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” a comment read. “Finally, seeing you look soo very happy & you’re a fantastic Mom to your Son !” Another read.
On July 23, Cartwright also shared a post telling her followers that she was “thriving,” as she seemingly focused on the positive after the shocking news that Taylor was romancing her years-long publicist Lori Krebs.
The post included photos of the reality star looking glamorous while out with Lala Kent and enjoying pool days and the gym with Cruz.
Cartwright Revealed Her Son’s Autism Diagnosis in April 2025
Cruz has remained Cartwright’s No.1 priority, especially after she revealed in an interview with People that he was diagnosed with nonverbal autism at age 3.
“He crawled early, he walked early,” Cartwright said. “He was talking, he was saying, ‘Mommy,’ ‘Daddy.’ He was saying ‘Hot Dog!’ from ‘Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.’ Then, as he got closer to 2, we started noticing that he was regressing in his speech. He stopped talking almost completely.”
Cartwright and Taylor put their son in speech and occupational therapy, with Cartwright also creating a sensory room in her home, which fans have seen on “The Valley.”
Despite Cartwright and Taylor’s ongoing co-parenting challenges, she agreed while speaking to the Daily Dish in April that both she and her ex “put Cruz first.”
“He is top priority. He doesn’t see any of the struggles that mama has to deal with at times. But it’s great some days and not so great some other days. So there’s a lot going on there,” she added.
Cartwright and Taylor are still not legally divorced, but have finalized a child custody agreement. According to People, “Taylor will have custody of Cruz every other weekend and on Wednesday nights, while Cartwright will have him all other days.”
Cartwright will also have the final say in all matters regarding Cruz’s health if the former couple can’t reach an agreement.
