Mauricio Umansky has quite a solid resume. From his real estate empire to his work on reality TV, including “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and “Dancing With the Stars,” he’s not afraid to try new things.
In a new interview, the Bravo star admitted he’s considering a career in politics next.
Mauricio Umansky Has Big Dreams for the Future of Los Angeles
While Mauricio Umansky certainly hasn’t launched his political career yet, it’s something he frequently mulls over.
“I’m not running for mayor yet. I never said never,” the Bravo star shared on a new podcast episode, as reported by Us Weekly. “Maybe one day. I’ve thought about it a lot, but not yet. I’m a registered independent, and I believe in the middle. I think we’ve lost the middle. I think it’s kind of gone, which is kind of sad.”
Umansky admitted he’s tired of extreme division and wants to help people find a middle ground. When asked why he should be mayor, Umansky stated he wants to do great things for Los Angeles.
“We’ve lost so much of Hollywood. We need to give Hollywood incentives,” the “Dancing With the Stars” alum added. “What put Los Angeles on the map was television and movies. The reason we have people come from all over the world to visit L.A. is because of the movies. If we stop filming movies and television here, it’s not only about the employment that’s coming, it’s about the tourism.”
The real estate mogul added that he hates that Los Angeles has such a bad reputation to the rest of the country. He’s interested in changing the narrative and restoring the city to its former glory.
“If we can change the PR that’s out there, but actually change it [so] that we are safe here,” Umansky shared. “We cannot have criminals get out of jail in three days. We just can’t do that because what happens is more crime happens. They’re not scared of being in jail. They’re not scared of being put away.”
The RHOBH Star Embraces Whatever the Future Holds
Though Mauricio Umansky and Kyle Richards are separated, they still haven’t officially divorced.
“How long have I been separated? Two years, two and a half years, plus or minus. I was not counting — but I’m still in the era of being single,” Umansky told PEOPLE in November 2025. “I’m alone. I’m single. I’m dating. I guess that’s my era.”
The realtor is incredibly busy, but acknowledges his good looks and what has been previously said about him in the press.
“I’m in my 50s, so I’m not trying to be a 20-year-old sexy man,” he told the outlet, referencing a racy photoshoot he did at the time. “But it’s edgy and sexy… I’ve got a high heel in my face with a leg! I’ve got two girls, one pouring me a drink and one lighting my cigar. It definitely has some lifestyle, and it has some edge.”
Next, Mauricio Umansky and his daughter, Alexia, are competing on “Special Forces” season 5. The father-daughter duo will participate in some of the most rigorous physical challenges for the experience of a lifetime.
