“Summer House” star West Wilson suffered a heartbreaking loss recently, after his grandmother, Gayle R. Wilson, was tragically killed on April 22 at the age of 75. At the time of her passing, TMZ reported that West’s cousin, Dakota Sweeney, was arrested after police said he shot West’s grandmother. A witness told the outlet that Dakota and Gayle argued earlier in the day about doing chores around the house, and Dakota was sitting in a room with his grandmother for 30 minutes before shooting her with a handgun.
And now, there are new details that have emerged regarding West’s cousin, specifically related to his mental state.
According to a new report from TMZ, Sweeney “may undergo a mental exam after his legal team raised questions about his state of mind.” According to court documents obtained by the outlet, Sweeney’s lawyers have asked “the court to approve a mental health professional interviewing him.”
Sweeney has been charged with first-degree murder, but has entered a plea of not guilty.
“In the new filing, Dakota’s team said they believe, ‘[Dakota] may be incapacitated to a point [Dakota] may not be able to understand proceedings against him or help prepare and present his defense at trial,’” TMZ further wrote. “The lawyer said Dakota may not know or appreciate the ‘nature, quality, or wrongfulness’ of his actions.”
Wilson has not yet spoken out regarding his grandmother’s passing.
Dispatch Audio Released Following West Wilson’s Grandmother’s Passing
At the end of April, TMZ released the official 911 dispatch audio from Wilson’s grandmother’s murder. Specifically, dispatchers can be heard talking about a “possible shooting,” asking officers to go inside, while adding that they should “be advised what we’re hearing is that it’s possible the suspect shot his mother-in-law.”
Another voice chimes in, asking, “Is he on the scene?” And someone replies, “Still on the scene.”
West Wilson Has Been Caught Up In A Lot Of Drama Recently
GettyWilson has been all over the news in recent weeks following news that he and his “Summer House” co-star Amanda Batula are in a romantic relationship. This came as a shock to many, considering Batula is best friends with Wilson’s ex, Ciara Miller, who also stars on the hit Bravo show.
The two released an initial statement, confirming news of their relationship. And then, Batula came out with another post, apologizing to everyone she had hurt and disappointed. However, she admitted that she would be returning to “some sense of normalcy,” and was spotted at a bar in NYC with Wilson shortly after.
With that, both Wilson and Batula attended the “Summer House” reunion, which has not aired yet. However, leaked audio proved that this new romance was a big topic of discussion, with Miller as well as some of the other castmates coming after them. Specifically, Miller can even be heard calling Batula, “a snake in the grass.”
The “Summer House” reunion will air on Bravo on May 26 at 8/7c.
