Emilie Ullerup Gets Real About Being an Actress

Last month, the Hallmark fan favorite let fans in on what life is really like for her as a working actress. While Ullerup has found success on Hallmark, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t still have to audition for roles and put effort into her career.

In fact, she works harder than ever to stay in the acting game. Ullerup gave fans a look at what it takes to be a working actor in the entertainment business. She admitted in a social media post that over 16 months, she had 40 auditions and booked one job.

“Nobody tells you the ratio going in. If they did, half of us would quit before we started,” before getting honest about the business, calling it ‘alchemy.” Ullerup explained that the business doesn’t always seem to run on hard work but rather “kissing the ring,” something she doesn’t do.

The actress spilled that the advice given to those in the entertainment world is to put in the work. Ullerup explained that what isn’t talked about is the energy it takes to keep moving forward in an industry filled with rejection.

“Maybe the problem was never how much we believed in ourselves. Maybe it’s a business that asks for that much belief and gives so little back. Even saying this much feels like breaking a rule. We’re supposed to be #grateful. #blessed. Never just tired. I’m not saying whether or not it’s worth it. I’m still here. Always believing. But also damn tired,” she ended her brutally honest message about life in the entertainment industry.
