It’s been two nearly two years since Rex Linn popped the question to Reba McEntire.
However, the country music icon has stated that both she and her actor fiance — who’s also her co-star in NBC sitcom “Happy’s Place” — have both been so busy that they haven’t been able to identify a window in their jam-packed schedules to accommodate the nuptials.
‘Three or Four Days’
In a recent interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” the 71-year-old singer shared that when the wedding finally does happen, a single day won’t be able to contain it.
“It’s not going to be a wedding day — it’s going to have to be three or four days,” she revealed.
According to McEntire, they’re planning to hold the ceremony on their farm, surrounded by their coterie of critters.
“Well, see, not only do we have granddogs, we have long-horned steers, we have donkeys, we have horses, and dogs,” McEntire said. “So it’s going to be a very unusual wedding on the farm.”
When the “ET” reporter suggested she make her way down the aisle on horseback, McEntire exclaimed, “Gator would love that. That’s my horse.”
Planning Has Been ‘Tough’
When asked if any of her fellow Nashville stars would be enlisted to singing at the wedding, she admitted that aspect could be problematic.
“Rex has his list, and I have my list, and if we leave anybody out we’re going to hurt somebody’s feelings,” she explained. “So not sure how the music is going to roll.”
As for when the big day might arrive, McEntire insisted that she and Linn were still waiting for a window to free up in their respective schedules.
“Every time we plan on something, he [Linn] gets a job, or we get back into the third season [of ‘Happy’s Place’] and hoping for more,” she said.
“And you can’t plan something that we think is going to be a week or two,” she added.
A Long Time Coming
This isn’t the first time that McEntire has discussed having to delay the wedding due to their respective scheduling issues.
“We’re just waiting until we have an open spot to have the wedding,” she recently told E! News. “Get it planned,” she added. “Print those invitations.”
Earlier this year, she said that she and Linn were in a holding pattern while awaiting news on whether NBC would pick up a third season of “Happy’s Place” (it did, with the new season set to arrive in October).
“We’re still waiting on a third season pickup from ‘Happy’s Place,’” she told E! News back in February. “And Rex got picked up on ‘Stick’ with Owen Wilson, so that pushed the wedding back.”
When interviewed by People in October 2025, she admitted that neither she nor her fiance were feeling particularly rushed about heading to the altar. “I asked him, ‘Well, when do you want to do this?’ He said, ‘Let’s have fun with the engagement time.’ So we haven’t set a date or anything. We’re just enjoying each other,” she said.
Linn shared similar sentiments when he spoke with E! News. “What we’re doing right now, honestly, is enjoying our engagement time,” he explained. “We haven’t set a date, we’re just going to enjoy our engagement and enjoy going to ‘Happy’s Place’ every day.”
