ABC is already thinking about “Dancing With the Stars” season 35. Right now, the casting department is scouting out celebrity talent to compete for the Mirrorball Trophy.
The series usually casts a few professional athletes every season. NBA player Iman Shumpert even became the season 30 champion.
This year, fans believe a professional baseball player would make an excellent addition to the cast.
“Dancing With the Stars” Fans Want a Savannah Bananas Player on the Show
Spring has arrived and baseball season is in full swing.
Derek and Hayley Hough joined the Savannah Bananas for a special performance this week. The couple and their troupe are preparing for a summer tour and fans deemed this to be the perfect promotional opportunity.
“A performance worthy of a mirrorball trophy 😉,” the baseball team shared on their official Instagram account.
The routine featured several members of the Savannah Bananas who have dance training, much to fans’ delight. It also sparked speculation that one team member might compete on “Dancing With the Stars” this fall.
Jackson Olson is a proud member of the Savannah Bananas and joined the Houghs for their on-field performance. He’s always been popular with fans, prompting many to speculate he might join “DWTS” this fall.
In the comments, the baseball player left a simple Mirrorball emoji, which stoked fans’ interest.
“They better be calling you for DWTS real soon!! 👏🏻 👏🏻 🕺 💃🏼” one Instagram user replied in the comments.
So far, Jackson Olson has neither confirmed nor denied the rumors. But this certainly isn’t the first time he’s crossed paths with “Dancing With the Stars.”
During an appearance on the “Ali on the Run Show,” the Savannah Bananas player teased he might be interested in joining the competition if invited. He noted he enjoys watching pro dancer Rylee Arnold‘s videos and believes they might make a good pairing.
Other Athletes are Prime Candidates for Season 35
Although the season 35 premiere is several months away, fans are eager to learn who will compete. After the Winter Olympics, many viewers started nominating fan-favorite athletes.
Figure skater and gold medalist Alysa Liu would be a prime choice for many. However, the 20-year-old already admitted she isn’t sure about the show.
“Oh, I don’t know if I would do ‘Dancing With the Stars,’” Alysa nervously told Entertainment Tonight. “I love dancing and I think I’m good at dancing. But I don’t know if I would do it.”
“Dancing With the Stars” will likely premiere on ABC this September.
