Former NFL star and four‑time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski could be trading in his football cleats for dance shoes. After a memorable dance moment with “Dancing With the Stars” co‑host Julianne Hough on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, Gronk has made no secret of his interest in competing in the “DWTS” ballroom someday.
Supporters Showing Him Love
Supporters from all corners, including his long-term girlfriend, Sports Illustrated model Camille Kostek, and season 33 alum Ilona Maher, think Gronk, who also competed as the White Tiger during season 3 of “The Masked Singer,” would be a perfect fit for the “DWTS” dance floor.
Kostek told Page Six, “I think that would be awesome for me; for him to have a little more rhythm, and a little bit more training.”
She went on to say, “I try with him, so really getting, like, a true professional, especially partner dancing, would be awesome. I think when we go out, it’ll be a lot more fun to dance together, and for him to do the lifts? Oh! Someone pair up with him!”
Olympic rugby player Maher also talked with Page Six, saying, “He should be [on it], he’d be great at it! I mean, I don’t know how well he moves his hips, but I think he would kill it. I’ll give him any tips.”
Ilona even went as far as saying who Gronkowski should be paired with.
“He’d be great with Emma Slater,” the bronze medalist stated. “She’s just such a great teacher. So lovely and so kind, so, yeah, 100 percent.”
More Support For Gronk on ‘Dancing With the Stars’
It looks like all of the “Dancing With the Stars” alumni were out and about. Page Six also talked with former NBA star Dwight Howard, who competed on season 33 with pro dancer Daniella Karagach.
When asked about Rob competing on “DWTS,” Howard joked, “I don’t know if he got rhythm to do ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ I know he’s, you know, very physical. But ‘Dancing With the Stars’ might be good for him. He did good at football, I think he’ll do pretty good at dancing.”
Howard wanted to add one stipulation, though, “As long as they don’t give him Daniella, because I love her, but that’s my partner, for life! Nobody [else] gets Daniella.”
Gronkowski Throwing His Own Name Out There
While others are showing their support for Gronkowski to join the show, it looks like the Super Bowl champ wants to do it also. He’s thrown his name in the ring, even saying it’s been on his bucket list for a long time.
During an appearance on “Today,” he said, “Is there anything that I haven’t done yet? Well, ‘Dancing With the Stars’ has always been on the plate, there’s no doubt about that. It’s really tough because it’s during football season, but it’s always going to be in my back pocket. When I feel like the time is right … then I would do it.”
