Ben Stiller Misses Knicks’ Game to Attend 2026 Met Gala With Wife Christine Taylor — ‘I Wish I Was There’

Actor, comedian, and filmmaker Ben Stiller missed an important sporting event to attend the 2026 Met Gala with his wife, actress Christine Taylor.

The New York Knicks were playing their first game of their playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, May 4, and Stiller, 60, is a huge fan of the Manhattan-based NBA side.

However, the star of 1998’s “There’s Something About Mary,” 2001’s “Zoolander,” and 2008’s “Tropic Thunder” found himself celebrating “Costume Art” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, less than three miles from Madison Square Garden, where the Nicks overcame the 76ers by 137-98.

Ben Stiller Wished He Was at the New York Nicks Game

In a video circulating on social media platform X, Ben Stiller joked that he would rather have been at the New York Nicks game than at the 2026 Met Gala with his wife.

Before entering the car that would take him to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a fellow Nicks fan shouted “Let’s go Nicks” at Stiller.

The star jokingly (or, perhaps, seriously) replied, “Alright, yeah! I wish I was there!” He then let out a wry laugh, while the lady who shouted and the people around her laughed more heartily.

While he didn’t attend the game, Stiller made a bold prediction about how the series was going to go.

Per Fox’s OutKick website, he told the media, “Knicks in six.” His prediction certainly could come true if last night’s game is anything to go by.

Stiller’s attendance at the Met Gala made some fans harshly question his devotion to the team, as one X user wrote, “Tonight’s a real test. Real celebrity Knicks fans vs those who choose to attend the Met Gala.”

Someone else harshly said, “If Ben Stiller picked the Met Gala over Game 1 of the Knicks game he may have to turn in his man card.”

Stiller did, however, take the time to post “LETS GO KNIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCKKKKSSSS” on his own X account.

Stiller & Taylor Repped Nicks Colors at the Met Gala

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor, 54, both made a point of repping the New York Nicks with the colors they chose to wear at the 2026 Met Gala.

Stiller, who arrived in shades, but removed them as he began to pose for photographs, wore a tailored navy blue suit with a bright orange tie, while Taylor’s cobalt blue strapless gown was embellished with florals embroidered with sequins.

Taylor also wore a half-up hairdo with bangs framing her face. She complemented her look with silver jewelry.

Stiller is in for a busy 2026. Per IMDb, he’s both starring in and producing the sports comedy movie “The Dink” and the comedy sequel “Focker-in-Law,” and executive producing the HBO documentary series “Born to Bowl,” amongst other projects.

Per IMDb, Taylor will also appear in “The Dink,” as well as the comedy movie “Influenced,” which is also out this year.

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor both looked fantastic at the 2026 Met Gala. We hope Stiller isn’t feeling too disappointed at missing the New York Knicks game.

We wish them both success in their various 2026 endeavors.
