Fans of the Hallmark Channel have been loving “Paris Is Always a Good Idea,” the new Hallmark+ series starring Lacey Chabert.
Chabert and co-stars Barbara Niven and Scott Michael Foster were on hand to promote the show during an August 5 panel hosted by the Television Critics Association.
‘Paris Is Always a Good Idea’
“Career-driven nonprofit executive Chelsea Martin (Chabert) travels to Paris with her confident rival-turned-ally, Jason Knightly (Foster) to secure a major donation but a heartfelt message from her late mother — and a loving push from her sister Annabelle (Rebecca Hanssen) – sends her on an unexpected journey to reconnect with the three great loves she once left behind,” reads the synopsis for the new series.
“From the rolling hills of Ireland to the magic of Paris and the sun-kissed vineyards of Spain, Chelsea retraces old footsteps and discovers that sometimes moving forward means first looking back,” the synopsis concludes.
On Location in Paris
During the panel, the actors discussed what it had been like to film the show on location in the City of Light.
As Chabert explained, spending all that time in Paris together had been a bonding experience for the cast.
“But it’s such an epic thing to have the chance to, you know, take the show on the road, literally,” she shared.
“And, you know, especially with us being on location together and leaving our families and time away from home, it feels like the ultimate camp experience, you know?” Chabert added.
How Many Suitcases?
That led Niven to chime in, “But tell them how many suitcases you brought.”
Niven then offered an explanation stating, “So we do bring our home with us when we’re away because otherwise it’s very hard to work.”
Chabert queried, “How many did you have, Barbara?”
“I had six. Came home with seven,” Niven responded.
“I had five and came home with six,” revealed Chabert, while Foster said, “I think I had one.”
Of Course There Was Shopping
Spending all that time in Paris, it was inevitable that Niven and Chabert would hit a few of the city’s famed shops.
As Niven revealed, she “bought a pair of blankets, pillows, everything.”
Chabert agreed that it was “such a treat” to have all that Parisian shopping at their disposal.
A Busy Year
During another part of the panel, Chabert opened up about the busy year she’s had, with “Paris Is Always a Good Idea” just one of many projects she’s been juggling.
“I have been on the go,” she declared, crediting her husband David Nehdar for holding down the fort while she’s been away.
“And thank goodness for a wonderful support team, and my husband and my daughter have been able to travel with me quite a bit,” she continued.
“I mean, there is, you know, it is a juggle and it is hard to be away from my family,” she admitted. “But we make it work. And this has been a year of many dreams coming true for me. And I don’t take one second of it for granted, you know? And the fact that we get to hopefully bring that joy that we’re having while filming into the movies and bring that into people’s living rooms, you know, and now into this series is an honor.”
