Hallmark star Victor Webster typically plays a fairly straight-laced prosecutor in the “Hannah Swensen Mysteries” movies. However, in real life, the actor has a great sense of humor.
Webster’s comment on a recent Hallmark Channel social media post showed that, while he’s a very nice guy, he can dish out some great clapbacks when he feels it’s necessary.
Victor Webster Jumped in to Defend Himself
A new “Hannah Swensen Mysteries” movie premieres on Hallmark on Saturday, May 16. On “Best Served Cold,” Hannah, played by Alison Sweeney, faces two mysterious cases she is determined to help resolve.
In a sneak peek shared on the Hallmark Channel Instagram page on May 11, Hannah is asked whether it’s true that she can solve cases even the police can’t. She smiles and shrugs as she replies, “Not officially.”
Hallmark fans took to the comment section of the post to share their excitement over the upcoming premiere. Almost all of the comments were positive ones, as the “Hannah Swensen Mysteries” series is a fan favorite.
One fan gushed, “Can hardly wait!!!! BEST MYSTERIES BEST CASTING.” A comment from the Hallmark page concurred, posting, “Just perfect!”
One Instagram user took issue with that comment, writing, “I disagree. Get rid of Victor Webster.”
Fans and one of the actor’s Hallmark colleagues had Webster’s back. However, he did not shy away from standing up for himself with an epic response.
Webster wrote, “I asked production to replace me with Ryan Gosling but apparently he was busy.”
He added, “Sending big hugs.”
The Hallmark fan who wrote the original critique was swayed by Webster’s response. She replied, “omg I got a reply from you [thank you] love you on charmed as coop.”
The Hallmark Hunk Won Over His Critic With His Fantastic Response
As fans may recall, Webster played Coop on the television series “Charmed” back in 2006. He only appeared in seven episodes, but he clearly left a big impression on this particular fan.
Webster’s casting as Chad in the “Hannah Swensen Mysteries” series has been somewhat controversial. He joined the series after Cameron Mathison left Hallmark. While it took a bit for some fans, most viewers now seem to love Hannah and Chad together.
Many fans are enjoying the banter and brewing chemistry between Sweeney and Webster’s characters, and he has teased that he is ready to see them take things to the next level.
Webster didn’t have to navigate that initial critical comment on his own. His “Hannah Swensen Mysteries” co-star Barbara Niven, who plays Dolores, was quick to add her take in the comment section.
Niven tagged the critical commenter and wrote, “Dolores is definitely team Chad now. Love Victor in this!”
She also tagged the fan who wrote the original comment in an additional response, writing, “Thank you so much for your support!”
Another Hallmark fan commented in the main comment section, but also commented in response to the Webster criticism.
Their first comment read, “My favorite mystery show, cannot wait!!!” Their additional response, written specifically to the critical commenter, read “How rude! The rest of us love him.”
