Mina Starsiak Hawk Reveals Whether She Would Ever Return to ‘Good Bones’ 2 Years After Exit

“Good Bones” alum Mina Starsiak Hawk famously walked away from his hit HGTV series due to “interpersonal issues” among her family.

Now, more than two years after the series wrapped, Starsiak Hawk reveals whether she would ever return.

Mina Starsiak Hawk Hopes to Return to TV

In the years since her exit from her renovation series, Starsiak Hawk has made brief appearances on shows like “House Hunters” and “Rock the Block.” (The Indiana native is currently partnered with former NFL star Vernon Davis for season 7 of the competition series.)

However, she spilled to fellow HGTV star Alison Victoria about her hopes for her future in television.

“I hope so. It’s just such a weird place right now,” Starsiak Hawk said during her appearance on the Thursday, April 30, episode of Victoria’s “Pap Smear” podcast. “I think networks, streaming services… It’s just changing so much. How people are watching things. Live TV is really just sports and news. You know, the network’s primary demographic is older that was on cable and now isn’t on streaming. So, how do we make TV and how do we make it affordable, and how do we get advertisers? So, that whole thing happening while we’re like, ‘Okay, well, do we have a new concept? What sells?'”

Starsiak Hawk — who starred alongside her mom, Karen E. Laine, for eight seasons — added, “It’s tricky because I would love to be [on TV].”

The “Sin City” rehab star encouraged Starsiak Hawk to simply “create a show” for herself.

“I have,” she revealed. “I was actually, I was talking to Scott McGillivray — because he does production [and] he’s talent — so kind of picking his brain. So I was going back through my emails to see everything that I’d kind of sent up the flagpole. But it’s also tricky because the flagpole keeps changing.”

Starsiak Hawk continued, “Unfortunately, it matters who’s in charge because different people like different things and like different talent and like different concepts.”

Would Mina Starsiak Hawk Return to ‘Good Bones’?

While the mother of two explained that she loved “Good Bones,” there would need to be major changes in order for her to return to the series.

“Other than it being my money and my life, I loved ‘Good Bones,'” she told Victoria. “I would do a ‘Good Bones’ like with a twist because I can’t make money. It’s not sustainable.”

She went on to explain how real estate prices in her hometown of Indianapolis have skyrocketed since she began flipping houses in 2008.

“There’s an empty lot on my street for $350,000,” she explained. “I bought my house on my street for six grand. And there was a structure on it. There was no attached sewer line, but there was a structure. So, it’s just not feasible.”

The “Sin City Rehab” star agreed and explained that same factor was the reason she “switched over to doing client houses.”

“I was like, I can’t do this. I can’t get that many loans. I can’t have this much risk, and where’s the reward if I lose everything?” Victoria said.
