Ben Affleck made sure his younger brother Casey Affleck had family by his side for a major career moment in Venice. The Gone Girl star, 54, joined Casey, 51, on the red carpet for the Tuesday, September 8, premiere of “Company” at the 2026 Venice International Film Festival.
The appearance came hours after Casey publicly revealed that their father, Timothy “Tim” Affleck, had died earlier this year, as reported by Page Six.
The year has been especially difficult for the brothers. Their mother, Christopher “Chris” Anne Affleck, died in June at age 83.
Ben Affleck Joins Casey for ‘Company’ Premiere
Ben posed alongside Casey and also shared a red carpet moment with his 22-year-old nephew, Indiana Affleck, who appears in the new film.
Casey wrote and directed “Company,” a Gothic, vampire-inspired drama that marks his third feature as a director. His sons Indiana and Atticus, 18, both appear in the movie alongside Casey’s longtime girlfriend, Caylee Cowan.

Casey Affleck Dedicated the Movie to His Parents
Earlier Tuesday, Casey revealed during a festival press conference that “Company” carries a deeply personal dedication. “It’s dedicated to my parents because I lost both my mom and my dad this year, and they were very important to me,” Casey said, as quoted by Page Six.
He added, “I really wanted to show this movie to them, and I didn’t get to. I think they would have liked it.”
Casey and Ben’s parents divorced when the brothers were young. Tim later rebuilt his life after struggling with alcoholism, something Ben has spoken about with admiration over the years.
Casey Affleck Calls Working With His Sons a Career Highlight
The film also gave Casey the chance to direct both of his sons.
“I think they grew up around it and had some interest in it and a sort of innate understanding of what it was,” Casey said during the press conference, according to People.
“Like I did, my dad worked in the theater for many years. And so it’s passed down, I suppose, which is a really nice thing. And they were willing to be a part of this.”
Casey said Indiana became deeply involved in the production beyond his acting role.
“They were amazing, and it made it the best professional experience of my life by far because I got to work every day with my kids and hang around. I would do it over and over again if I could.”
Ben Affleck Has Reflected on His Father’s Legacy
Ben has previously credited Tim’s long-term sobriety with teaching him that people can change their lives.
“The most enduring lesson my father taught me is the degree to which it’s possible to change your life and patterns,” Ben told The New York Times in 2000.
In a 2020 interview with People, Ben also reflected on learning to see his parents as people rather than expecting perfection from them. “Part of being an adult is learning that your parents are just people. They’re not perfect. They were just doing their best. As a child, we expect perfection out of our parents,” he said.
Against that backdrop, Ben’s appearance in Venice was more than another red carpet stop. It was a quiet show of support as Casey celebrated a film shaped by family, while both brothers continued navigating an extraordinarily personal year.
