One of the downsides of binge-watching is that you get through all the episodes quickly. “The Gentlemen” Season 2 only just arrived on Sept. 3, 2026, but with just eight episodes, you were likely through it in no time at all. Now you’re already looking for something new to check out.
The good news is that there are some excellent shows across the streaming platforms. Now, you just need to decide if you want a modern-day story exactly like “The Gentlemen” or if you’re in the mood for something set in the past.
‘Peaky Blinders’
When it comes to a family of criminals, there is one place to turn. It’s all about “Peaky Blinders,” which arguably made this entire genre so popular. You can binge-watch the series on Netflix, and there’s a movie to follow up with. The best thing is that this series is getting a revival, and that will come to Netflix in the near future!
“Peaky Blinders” starts shortly after World War I. With the people of Birmingham disenfranchised thanks to the way they’ve been treated after fighting for their country, they decide it’s time to take action. Tommy Shelby becomes the resounding voice of his family, turning to organized crime and making it look sexy! There are plenty of real issues from the early 1920s and beyond covered throughout the six-season run, including the growth of the IRA, the Russian mob, and more.
‘MobLand’
If you want something that has the feel of a Guy Ritchie show, then you’ll want to turn your attention to another series he is an executive producer on. Jez Butterworth is the showrunner, so it also has the feel of his darker material, such as “The Fall,” and it’s jam-packed with action and betrayals. It’s all about “MobLand” on Paramount+.
Tom Hardy takes on the role of the loyal fixer for the Harrigan crime family. With Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren also starring, it’s an epic series with outstanding plot points and full arcs. The best thing is that it’s just been renewed for a third season now that the behind-the-scenes drama has settled down, and “MobLand” Season 2 premieres on Sept. 18, 2026, so there’s not long to wait for more episodes.
‘1923’
If you don’t mind going to the past — and why would you if you love “Peaky Blinders? — then you’ll want to check out one of the “Yellowstone” prequels. “1923” is the second of the prequel stories, following Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford’s Jacob and Cara Dutton. They need to protect the Dutton Ranch from those around them who will do whatever they can to get their land.
Meanwhile, they’re trying to get in touch with their younger nephew after the death of his brother. Spencer Dutton has avoided his family for the longest time, opting to work in the jungles of Africa. While there, he meets Alexandra of Sussex, a freethinking upper-class British woman who will take all the risks to be with her man. There are just two seasons to the tale, bringing closure to storylines and hope for more “Yellowstone” prequel stories. Check out ” 1923 ” on Paramount+.
‘The Brothers Sun’
If you would prefer a modern story, then you’ll need to turn back to Netflix. “The Brothers Sun” may have only lasted one season — and unfairly so — but it is more than worth the watch to get a feel for “The Gentlemen.” Not only is it focused on a family of crime, but it’s also humorous in nature.
After the head of a Taiwanese triad is shot by a would-be assassin, the eldest son heads to Los Angeles to protect his family. However, Bruce soon learns much more about his family and their criminal ways, while also learning that his entire family has been raised to be hardened criminals. Why was he protected? It turns out that his mother wanted to keep him out of the family business, but it’s all about to come to a head.
‘Animal Kingdom’
Finally, you need something that has multiple seasons with a “The Gentlemen” feel, and the only real show is “Animal Kingdom.” The TNT series lasted for six seasons, and it tells a much darker tale of crime and drugs; it was inspired by the Pettingill family. You can watch all six seasons for free on Tubi.
It all starts with Joshua “J” Cody, who moves in with his extended family after the death of his mother. His whole world his twisted, as he learns all about the criminal empire that his uncles run. Everything is governed by the respected matriarch Smurf, but her sons — some of them adopted — call the shots, and it leads to some crazy antics and questionable activities.
