There have been plenty of rumors and speculation when it comes to “MobLand,” but Paramount+ hadn’t officially renewed the crime drama for a third season. That has all changed, just weeks ahead of the Season 2 premiere on the streamer.
Deadline reports that “MobLand” Season 3 is officially happening, not that it comes as much of a surprise. You’d be forgiven if you thought it was already renewed, considering the news that came from behind the scenes, especially involving Tom Hardy.
Who Will Return for ‘MobLand’ Season 3?
ParamountAlong with the renewal, Deadline shared that Hardy is set to return as the Harrigan’s loyal fixer. There was some back-and-forth with this due to some of Hardy’s actions on set. During the production of the second season, Hardy, who serves as an executive producer on the series, wasn’t happy with the way showrunner Jez Butterworth was doing things. It got to the point where the two couldn’t work together, and Hardy was set to depart.
After a series of meetings and the help of fellow EP Guy Ritchie, tensions came to an end. Hardy decided that he would return, and that led to talks of “MobLand” Season 3. With the second season already in production and set for a 2026 release, it seemed like the third season was already in the bag before these tensions started, but that wasn’t the case at all.
Hardy isn’t the only one returning to the series. Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan will also return as the crime family’s leading members, Maeve and Conrad Harrigan. The second season will also include Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, and Lara Pulver as part of a star-studded cast.
When Will ‘MobLand’ Season 2 Premiere?
ParamountFor now, eyes are on the second season, which will premiere on Paramount+ on Sept. 18, 2026. Like other Paramount+ shows, it will air weekly, with the finale slated for Nov. 20, 2026.
The second season is set to pick up from the aftermath of the Season 1 finale, with the family struggling to show up as a unified front. Their criminal empire was fractured, and now various rivals are threatening to break through the cracks. Harry Da Souza (Hardy) will need to figure out the best side to fall on. Just how loyal is he to the Harrigan family? This is where it’s going to be put to the test.
The writers’ room already returned to work in May 2026 for the third season. Work was being done behind the scenes to help ensure a short break between the seasons, just in case of a renewal. Now that has come through, the production work can start.
It took less than 18 months between the first and second seasons, and that was without an early renewal. Paramount+ didn’t grant the crime drama a renewal until July 2026, months after the initial premiere. However, it did come as the show cemented itself as the second biggest launch ever on the streamer, just behind “Landman.” Since the renewal for “MobLand” Season 3 came through ahead of the Season 2 premiere, it’s possible that we could see it arrive in late 2027.
