Influencer Madeleine White and her husband Andrew Fedyk, revealed this week that their beloved pet dog had sadly passed away. The sudden death of Dunkin, one of their two Bernese Mountain Dogs, came less than 48 hours after they had been left with a professional boarding service in Los Angeles.
The two-year-old dog was left for a four-week boarding program with a professional trainer. White and her DJ husband Fedyk had chosen to have the two dogs trained after welcoming their first child together. However, tragedy appears to have struck, with Dunkin dying not long after being placed into the training service.
Now they are seeking answers for exactly what happened and are warning other pet owners about the potential dangers.
Madeleine White Says Family Is ‘Absolutely Broken’ After Dog’s Death
In a series of Instagram stories and posts, White explained what had happened. According to the influencer, they had placed their two dogs, Dunkin and Poutine with the trainer and paid approximately $10,000. They received a call two days later to say that Dunkin had died. “We lost our dog Dunkin today and the reason why makes me sick to my stomach,” Fedyk wrote in the first message.
Revealing the timeline of the events, White added, “We received a call within 48 hours that Dunkin was supposedly taken to the park during an extreme heat wave.” The dog was reported to subsequently show “signs of heat exhaustion” while traveling in a car and had “passed away by the time they arrived at a boarding facility.” To make matters worse for White, the boarding facility he was being taken to was not somewhere they were aware of.
“He never had a chance to be saved,” Fedyk revealed. She also noted that he was not taken to a vet until after his death.
She then paid tribute to Dunkin, calling him her “sunshine boy” and saying that he had been “taken from us far too soon.” White then wrote, “I will never be able to articulate the words for how much Dunkin means to us. Please hug your doggies extra tight for us tonight x.”
Couple Says 7 Other Families Have Come Forward
Outside of the tragedy of losing their pet, White and Fedyk are now looking for answers. They are determined to find out exactly what happened, as they believe some of the circumstances are unusual. The couple explained that the dogs’ AirTags had been disconnected while they were supposed to be at the park, for example.
They have since posted a series of messages from other pet owners who have made similar allegations. Sharing a collection of screenshots, White showcased other instances of alleged harm that other dogs have encountered.
Fedyk claimed the couple has since spoken to seven other families who allege their dogs also died in unexplained circumstances while under the care of Smart Dogs Training.
“It is now something a lot more serious than just simple negligence,” Fedyk alleged in a follow-up video.
Those allegations have not been independently verified, and the individual circumstances surrounding the other reported deaths remain unclear. As Parade reported, Smart Dogs Training had not responded to its request for comment at the time of publication.
