Michael Douglas has stepped back from acting in recent years, only taking on the occasional role.
At the moment, he’s in New York City, and shared a sunny Sunday afternoon stroll with his 2 million Instagram followers.
‘Happy Sunday’
The Hollywood icon, who’ll be celebrating his 82nd birthday on September 25th, shared a video of himself taking a walk through Central Park on Sunday, August 30.
“Happy Sunday everyone, yeah! I’m back in New York. Beautiful day. Hope you’re all having a great Sunday, and I’ll check in with you a little later,” he said in the first part of the video before signing off.
“Okay, cheers,” he exclaimed.
The video resumed, with Douglas explaining that he’d been walking in the park about “an hour and a half” at that point.
“I’m tired,” he admitted.
“Not bad for 82, but look at this park,” he declared, casting his phone’s camera on the sights of Central Park.
“This is magical. Everybody’s here on a beautiful Sunday. Wish you were,” he added.
Time For a Ride
When the video resumed again, Douglas had decided to give his feet a break by hopping into a pedicab.
“You know what, I need a ride. Sometimes you just need a ride,” he said before launching into some clever promotion for his upcoming memoir, “One Helluva Ride,” which comes out in early October.
“Well thanks for joining me, and I do hope you pick up the book! Fifty percent off right now if you buy it in advance,” he said
“And we all need a good ride. That’s what life is it’s a ride. One hell of a ride,” he said, referencing the title of his book.
“Sometimes good, sometimes bad,” he added. “Enjoy, and I hope you have a great Sunday, okay? Lots of love.”

Sharing His Truth
In July, Douglas spoke with People about his memoir, which he promises will deliver a warts-and-all recollection of the ups and downs of his storied Hollywood career.
A Hollywood scion, Douglas was the original nepo baby as son of movie legend Kirk Douglas, which decidedly had its pros and cons when he decided to follow his famous father’s path as an actor.
As Douglas told People, he decided to write his memoir because he felt it was time to “tell my story on my own terms” for the first time.
“Not the highlight reel, not the version shaped by headlines or box office numbers, but the real one,” he said.
“I’ve lived a life that unfolded in public while being deeply private at the same time, and there’s a difference,” Douglas explained. “This is about where I came from, what I fought against and what I chose for myself. Fame can blur the truth; this is my attempt to bring it back into focus.”
“One Helluva Ride” arrives in bookstores on October 6.
