A family source of ‘The Blind Side’ actor Quinton Aaron, 41, has confirmed that doctors found a rare cyst on his spine, TMZ reports.
Aaron’s cyst was found after a series of medical tests. Doctors will now determine if it is benign or has cancerous cells. The source told TMZ that Aaron could potentially undergo back surgery and an extensive rehabilitation program with physical therapy.
If the actor does undergo surgery, he will then be confined to a wheelchair until doctors approve otherwise.
Quinton Aaron Felt Neck & Back Pain Before Collapsing
Aaron has been hospitalized for 5 days now after collapsing at his home. His wife, Margarita, told TMZ that his legs went numb while walking up the stairs. When paramedics arrived at their home to take Aaron to the hospital, he was in and out of consciousness in the ambulance.
Before his collapse, Aaron told his wife that he was experiencing back and neck pain. Although he chalked it up to an uncomfortable night of sleep, the pain continued, leading to his legs eventually going numb.
TMZ reports that Aaron is currently on life support; however, his wife told the outlet that she has complete faith he will heal from this.
Margarita said that her husband has made significant progress over the last few days and is not fully dependent on the machine that is keeping him alive. She also confirmed that Aaron has a blood infection.
Quinton Aaron Shows Signs of Improvement on Life Support
“He’s showing a lot of improvement. We all have faith in God that he will walk out of here fully recovered,” Margarita told the outlet, adding that her husband is “a fighter.”
After news of his devastating health crisis was shared, friends and family have rallied to support him by raising awareness of his situation through a GoFundMe organized by Veterans Aid Network. His GoFundMe has already raised over $39,000 to support his medical expenses.
Aaron’s “The Blind Side” co-star Jae Head has also shown his support by sharing several photos of them together on his Instagram. He captioned his post, praising Aaron for his kind heart.
“Yesterday i got a call that Quinton is in the hospital in the ICU because he passed out at home and is in pretty bad shape. Q is one of the nicest people I’ve ever had the opportunity to meet,” Head wrote. “He’s one of my best friends. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. He has a GoFundMe if you would like to support.”
Before Aaron’s health hit a rough patch, he lost a significant amount of weight and has continued to keep it off. He shared with Fox News Digital in October 2025 that he lost 200 lbs, down from 575 lbs. The actor was motivated to become healthier after a near-death experience where he fell into a bed of water after collapsing. Before he almost drowned, Aaron managed to regain his consciousness and find the strength to walk himself out of the water.
