The entertainment world is mourning the loss of Patrick Muldoon, who died April 19, 2026, after a heart attack. He was 57.
Best known for roles on “Days of Our Lives” and “Starship Troopers,” Muldoon leaves behind a legacy spanning decades of television and film.
Co-Stars & Colleagues Pay Tributes Remembering His Spirit
“Starship Troopers” coโstar Casper Van Dien shared on Instagram that he was โdeeply saddened, devastated and overwhelmedโ by the loss of one of his closest friends. He added that Muldoon’s โkindness, humor and loveโ were among the greatest gifts he left behind.
โIโve lost the friend I could be the most authentic version of myself with,โ he wrote. โOver thirtyโsix years of friendship. Canโt believe youโre gone. RIP, brother.โ
Alison Sweeney described the loss as deeply personal. She reflected on working with Muldoon early in her career.
“Pat was a rare kind of person โ brilliantly talented, endlessly kind, and generous in spirit,โ the “Days of Our Lives” star shared via X. โI was so lucky to have worked with him when I first started at Days, he made me feel at ease right away. He brought his unique charm and humor to work every day. A truly gifted guy, and one who will be profoundly missed.”
Child actor Jake Getman posted a tribute to Patrick Muldoon on Instagram, writing, “RIP Patrick Muldoon. ๐๏ธ.” Getman, who worked with Muldoon on the set of “Little Dead Rotting Hood” when he was eight, described him as “a great guy and always kept the energy light.” The post concluded with the hashtag “#gonetoosoon.”
Dean Cain also honored his former co-star. The two appeared together in “The Dog Who Saved Christmas” films. His tribute simply stated, “RIP, my friend.”
A Career Spanning Decades
GettyMuldoon rose to fame as Austin Reed on “Days of Our Lives.” He later appeared on “Melrose Place” as Richard Hart.
He also gained recognition as Zander Barcalow in “Starship Troopers.” His work helped define several eras of television and film.
More recently, he remained active in the industry. He had been working on a new project, “Kockroach,” alongside Chris Hemsworth and Taron Egerton.

They said he “gave unforgettable hugs” and embraced each day with a “full-tilt, rock โnโ roll spirit.โ He was known for having a rare ability to make others feel seen and valued. Affectionately known as “Bobo,” Muldoon is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart and his family. He will be sorely missed by his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr.; his sister and brother-in-law, Shana and Ahmet Zappa; and their children, Muldoonโs beloved niece Halo and nephew Arrow Zappa.
