Why Isn’t ‘Beyond the Gates’ on Today? (April 28 & 29)

Beyond the Gates” fans are in for a disappointing couple of days as the CBS soap faces another preemption. The show has had many preemptions and even a few weeks of reruns during its first season. It’s shaping up to be the same in the soaps’ second season, with preemptions happening as May sweeps loom.

Why ‘Beyond the Gates’ Is Preempted & When It Will Return

In March, “Beyond the Gates”, along with “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful”, were preempted for CBS’ annual coverage of March Madness. Once again, CBS Sports is taking over the network, forcing “Beyond the Gates” to go off the air for two days.

On Tuesday, April 28, and Wednesday, April 29, CBS will replace the daytime drama with live coverage of the UEFA Champions League, the annual club football tournament in Europe. New episodes of “Beyond the Gates” return on Thursday, April 30, with the drama picking up right where it left off on Monday, April 27.

This won’t be the only preemption coming for “Beyond the Gates”. CBS will air coverage of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, May 5, and Wednesday, May 6, which means no new episodes of the daytime drama on those days.

Unlike March Madness, when all three soaps were off the air, this time around, “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” will air new episodes. However, in some areas of the United States, the two soaps may be preempted, but that doesn’t mean fans miss out. The new episodes can be watched later the same day on Paramount+.

Big Things Are Happening for ‘Beyond the Gates’

While the preemption news certainly isn’t great for soap fans. There is a lot to celebrate regarding “Beyond the Gates”. The new soap has been renewed for two more seasons, taking it through season four.

CBS announced the exciting news when the network unveiled its fall TV schedule, keeping the soap on air through at least the 2027-2028 broadcast season.

One of the reasons the show was renewed is that it continues to break barriers and have groundbreaking events, like the upcoming crossover with “The Young and the Restless”. In June, Victor (Eric Braeden), Devon (Bryton James), Abby (Melissa Ordway), Jack (Peter Bergman), Diane (Susan Walters), and Kyle (Michael Mealor) will travel from Genoa City to Fairmont Crest for a major event.

The reason these Genoa City residents head to Fairmont Crest is for a political fundraiser for Martin (Brandon Claybon). It turns out Victor has a connection to Martin’s grandfather, Vernon (Clifton Davis), and Martin has a connection to Kyle. “Beyond the Gates” fans already know that Devon has known Vernon and Anita (Tamara Tunie) for years through music and his father, Neil (Kristoff St. John).

Bergman opened up about the crossover, which was filmed earlier this year, calling the experience “fantastic.” The actor didn’t give any details, but promised fans wouldn’t be disappointed.

May sweeps are on the horizon, and the month is bringing another major event to Fairmont Crest. The highly talked about cotillion takes place, and in true soap fashion, it’s filled with drama, chaos, and bombshell revelations.
