Kelly Clarkson was shocked when no coach turned for Liv when she auditioned for season 28, but glad to have her on her team on “The Voice” 2026. Semi-Finals Performance on ‘The Voice’
Liv went from no chairs turning for her during season 28 to now being in the Semi-Finals on season 29. For this performance, she sang “Flashdance…What a Feeling” by Irene Cara. Kelly said she is kind of crazy, as she created this beautiful version of this song. Kelly said her getting turned away last season was the fuel she needed, and she brought Kelly to tears!
For her performance, she immediately brought me in. This is a classic, but this arrangement is so different. She made me feel those lyrics, and I was mesmerized. She showed off a great range. Liv hit some huge notes, had some great runs, and I was just amazed. And to think, she is only 16 years old!
For the coaches, John said that it was like a superstar performance. Adam said he is very sad right now. His sadness, she is not on his team. Right now, she could win this season. Kelly said she had nothing to do with any of that. Liv had everything to do with that.
Liv’s Second Blind Audition on ‘The Voice’
New season, new chance for Liv. Since the season 28 audition, she said she’s been working hard to come back and get a chair turned. Now, she is back for season 29 and hoping to get one of these coaches to turn for her.
For her audition, she sang “we can’t be friends (wait for your love)” by Ariana Grande. That hard work has been paying off (and probably a better song choice), as she got Kelly and Adam to hit their button for her. She hit a big note towards the end that I thought would get John to turn, but no luck.
For the coaches, Adam said her voice is so mature and developed that it made him turn for her. But she is young and can be worked with. Kelly said she loves that song and loves how she flipped it. John said he is impressed by her story of coming back. Adam said that, as wonderful as Kelly would be as a coach, he would be more wonderful. Of course, Liv chose to join Team Kelly.
