Semi-Finals Performance on ‘The Voice’
Mikenley said it’s crazy that she has gone from delivering people’s food to singing on “The Voice” stage. For this performance, she sang “I’m Not The Only One” by Sam Smith. She is slowing it down for this one, but Kelly said she is making it her own. Kelly said her runs are everywhere, so she needs to dial those back some.
For the performance, something seemed off for this one. I have loved Mikenley heading into tonight’s episode, but this one seemed off to me. I was not overly impressed. She did have some good parts, but something didn’t work for me.
For the coaches, John said this was easily her best performance. That rasp was really beautiful. Adam said this was a lot more of what we all loved about you. Kelly said believability is huge for her, and she buys it from her.
Mikenley’s Blind Audition on ‘The Voice’
It all started here. She sang “Teenage Dreams” by Katy Perry for her audition, but made it her own. She definitely has a solid voice and that indie-style voice. She did make it her own, but then it’s a little shaky at times for me. However, she got all three coaches to turn for her, and it’s another Triple Turn.
We learn more about Mikenley, who performs with her dad right now. She said she was bullied in middle school, which made her lose her light and brightness, but here she is!
For the coaches, Adam said he didn’t even recognize the song at first. She is tasteful. Kelly said her tone is incredible, and thought it could be a country queen behind her. John said that it was so cool. I was the first one to turn for you. He would love to work with her. Of course, Mikenley chose to join Team Kelly.
