‘The Voice’ Coaches Reveal If They Would Have Auditioned For Show Ahead of Season 28

Auditioning for “The Voice” takes courage — and the current lineup of coaches admits they might not have had it at the start of their careers.

Ahead of the Season 28 premiere, coaches Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé shared whether they would have taken the leap if the hit NBC singing competition existed when they were starting out.

‘The Voice’ Coaches Reflect on Whether They’d Audition For The Series

“Hell nah,” Snoop, 53, said during a press junket. “I would be running far, far away from this show.”

“I don’t think I’d audition,” added Horan, 32. “Not a chance.”

Bublé, 50, offered a different perspective, joking about his confidence. “They all spin for me. I’m a four-chair turn every time,” he said, explaining he sometimes imagines himself performing in the shower.

Returning judge and country superstar McEntire didn’t get a chance to give her full answer, but she laughed out loud at Bublé’s response.

While Snoop was quick to say no, he also gave credit to those who do step onto the stage. “They have way more heart and way more courage than I would’ve had at this point in my career,” the rapper said. “I remember when I was at the beginning of my career I was very shy. I wouldn’t display none of the skills I had. So for them to be able to stand on this stage, to take criticism and to be critiqued, and some of them to be told no, that’s a lot of courage and a lot of strength.”

What to Expect in Season 28 of “The Voice”

According to NBC, Season 28 of “The Voice” premieres Monday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. ET and continues Tuesday, Sept. 23 in the same time slot. NBC’s hit singing competition will once again follow its familiar structure: six episodes of Blind Auditions, four episodes of Battles, five episodes of Knockouts, two episodes of Playoffs, and the Live Shows that crown the winner.

Fans can look forward to seeing McEntire, Horan, Snoop, and Bublé back in the red chairs as they search for the next big star. With Horan and Bublé both aiming for a three-peat after back-to-back wins, the competition among coaches is set to be fierce.

Season 28 promises the same mix of heartfelt performances, playful banter, and tough decisions that have made “The Voice” a staple on NBC for more than a decade. Whether the coaches themselves would audition or not, they’re ready to mentor the next generation of singers as the journey begins again.
