‘Toy Story 5’ Lands Digital and DVD Release Dates

Toy Story 5” became an immediate financial success. Within six weeks in theaters, it crossed the $1 billion mark in revenue, and it has only continued to grow stronger from there. Fans of all ages have enjoyed the storytelling and the return to the world of those who are now Bonnie’s toys, and it’s almost time to enjoy the flick at home.

While there isn’t a streaming date just yet, “Toy Story 5” will be available to buy or rent on Digital before the month is up. On top of that, it will be available on physical disc, whether you prefer DVD, Blu-Ray, or 4K, in September. There’s a lot to look forward to!

When Is ‘Toy Story 5′ Coming to Digital, DVD and Blu-Ray?

The Digital release is earlier than the DVD and Blu-Ray releases. That’s common, as Disney Pixar wants to push for the cheaper way of doing things. Of course, when you buy on Digital, you are just buying a licensing agreement, and that’s something to keep in mind. There’s a lot in the news right now about people losing access to movies they’ve purchased when licensing agreements change.

However, if you prefer it on Digital, then you’ll only need to wait until Aug. 18, 2026. That’s next Tuesday! You can buy on Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Apple, and anywhere else you get your Digital media.

What if you prefer to own it on physical media? There are a lot of benefits to this, as you get to watch whenever you want, and there’s no risk of losing the license. You’ll have to wait until Sept. 22, 2026, but you will be able to get combo packs, which include the code to get the Digital release at the same time.

Just keep in mind that this is not for free streaming just yet. The streaming date will be announced later, and we’re looking at it going to Disney+.

There is a Steelbook version of the release, which is going to be perfect for collectors of the franchise.

‘Toy Story 5’ Is a Financial Hit

Financially, the latest “Toy Story” installment proved to be a success. After crossing the $1 billion mark after six weeks in theaters, it continued to draw in audiences.

For many, it was a chance to learn more about other characters they’ve come to know and love, with Jessie being the one to take the reins. “Toy Story 5” touched on Jessie’s backstory again, bringing an element of closure and heart to a tale that was surrounded by sadness and loss when she was first introduced during the second movie. While Woody and Buzz went to save her, she quickly proved that she wasn’t a damsel in distress and that she had the skills to join toys of different digital ages together to find friends for their human.

The consensus is that “Toy Story 5” was a worthy addition to the franchise. After the disappointment of the fourth movie, fans took to Reddit to share how happy they were about this latest one. However, there is hope that Pixar will start to put more focus on original stories instead of constantly doing sequels.
